The things that have grabbed my attention so far are the new Frost*, BTBAM & black midi albums. I have tried listening to other stuff (like Ciccada and Jordsjo) but never got to hear the whole albums, so I can't talk about them. And slightly disappointed by the new Steven Wilson & Transatlantic records; I liked the new Cosmograf a lot, as well, and would recommend the new Daniel Eliseev Project release, called 'Lost Humanity'.

I have an album recommendation for you guys, Mdou Moctar - Afrique Victime. It's not technically prog, but I think it would appeal to a lot of you, especially those of you who are King Gizzard fans. But if you're not, still consider checking it out. It's one of my top 3 from this year, it's stunning, gorgeous, grooving and blistering Nigerian Psychedelic Rock/Tishoumaren. The guitar player and his non-traditional playing styles are such a nice contrast to what i'm used to. It's only around 40 minutes long, 8 tracks, sort of like a more middle eastern sounding modern Hendrix in a few ways. Curious to hear others thoughts on this fantastic release.

I've finally gotten into some of 2021's releases--listened to maybe 50 or 60 from suggestions above.
So far, my top 10 would include:

Needlepoint Walking Up That Valley
Caligonaut Magnified as Giants
Ciccada Harvest
SKE Insolibilia
Manna / Mirage Man Out of Time
Monobody Comma
A Formal Horse Meat Market
black midi Cavalcade
Jordsjø Pastoralis
Frost* Day and Age
Konom Konom

probably in that order--but I've still got a long way to go! Up for today's listening: Kurushima, French TV, and Fovea Hex

Seeing as it's mostly autumn right now, I'm surprised no one's mentioned Mostly Autumn's outstanding new album, "Graveyard Star" - their best album so far, although  all of Mostly Autumn's albums are 5-star masterpieces in my view. Wink

What is there to dislike? I think it far more likely that people haven't yet heard Mostly Autumn's new album, mostly. Smile

Going off-topic for a moment - and why not - I've decided to add Marillion to Prog Britannia Eight, especially for you, so now you have something to look forward to. Tongue

So far I think this year's shaping up better than the last one. Not every year can be a 2019. The new Rascal Reporters release did not disappoint and I'm looking forward to the new Missigno album too (and very much to the new Devilish Dear album but that's not really prog).

My favourite prog albums of this year so far (I've heard most of these just once up until now so my opinion may change in the future):
- Monobody - Comma
- Black Midi - Cavalcade
- The Fourth World Quartet - 1975
- Desertion Trio - Numbers Maker
- Real Loud - Real Loud
- Mahogany Frog - In The Electric Universe
- Sun Colored Chair - Seated
- Cody Carpenter - Memories And Dreams

Updating my list one month down the line, I'm going to add:
- Música D' Repuesto - Fake
- Fred Frith & Ikue Mori - A Mountain Doesn't Know It's Tall
- Machine Mass Sextet - Intrusion
- Gnohgnuhgnlus - Thomisme
- Greco Bastián - EP
- Owane - YOLO EP, Vol. 1

Another update:
- Pierre Vervloesem - Ruder
- Coevality - Multiple Personalities
- John McLaughlin - Liberation Time
- Mediabanda - Maquinarias
- Alex Ward - Gated
- Microkingdom - Minds In Deep Neutral
- Ángel Ontalva - Angel On A Tower
- Pierre Vervloesem - Flambant Neuf

I almost forgot to mention the 5-star  "Frampton Forgets the Words" album by the Peter Frampton Band, although I realise my idea of a 5-star "masterpiece" may differ from almost everyone else here. Tongue

Played it, got bored half way through. I mean it's nice guitar playing but Frampton playing instrumental covers is not exactly a 5-star masterpiece.

Psychedelic Paul forgets the words to describe the album, but I remember hearing it for the first time and thinking this is even better than the classic Frampton Comes Alive! Smile
