Here's a Poll to compliment this thread https://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=132584
So what's your biggest stinker from Canadian band Rush.

I'll have to go with THIS one. Sorry, I couldn't resist. As for Rush's worst album, I will give it to Counterparts. Even if none of them are bad, that's subjective, I feel that some are better than others and therefore some are worse than others. If other were an option for worst album (rather than worst album poll), I'd quite like to vote for Rush to the Can (the Rush/Can collaboration that never was). I don't think Rush had any stinkers.
Why can't y'all look at the PA ratings to see their lowest rated album? |

It is subjective, no question about that, and when I said that, I meant I don't want to choose in this context. None sticks out as bad stinker.

Music has always been a matter of energy to me. On some nights I believe that a car with the needle on empty can run 50 more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio. Hunter S Thompson

Blimey Greg, it's better than anything released after Power Windows, with the possible exception of Clockwork Angels...

I won't cast a vote, though there are three albums by Rush I hardly ever reach for:
Rush (when they were LZ wannabes) Roll the Bones (lightweight production, and some real duds on Side 2) Snakes & Arrows (more duds, saved by some great instrumentals, and "Far Cry") |

Some have argued that there is no true better, worse, best, worst when it comes to such things. To me if it seems the intent was achieved, then I tend to see something as successful even if I don't appreciate the results or the intent.
I got confused and meant to say Test for Echo, as I was more focused on another aspect of my post. In the other topic, I brought up Test for Echo and Vapor Trails. Oh, I do get confused and forgetful these days. Roll the Bones is the weakest one for me that I have heard quite a few times. The first is immature, but I kind of enjoy that about it. It's not very good, but it's fun. Edited by Logan - February 15 2024 at 15:12 |

I agree with you about S&A but not so much the RtB and the debut. What do you consider to be a dud on RtB? Neurotica? Big Wheel? Ghost of a Chance? I'm not sure why but I really like RtB. As for the first one I like that one too! It was beforre they really dipped their feet in prog but I've always felt it was a bit unfair to write it off as a mere Zeppelin clone album although that influence is certainly on there.

1. Vapor Trails 2. Test for Echo Both albums do not add much to the band's discography.

Right, "Neurotica" and "You Bet Your Life" are the worst offenders. |

So, starting with 2112, the album that saved Rush and has gone 3x Platinum. You along with others may have been out the door, but there were far, far more coming in the door. |
