Thanks to the CD format there are prog epics that clock in at 30, 40, 50 or even 60+ minutes.

But still, 20 years after the vinyl age, an LP side (about 20 minutes) is a common standard length.

My favourites of 2004:

1. “Behind The Great Beyond” (20:26) by Glass Hammer (Shadowlands)

2. “Modern Times” (21:09) by Matthew Parmenter (Astray)

3. “The Everlasting Hills” (19:47)  by Dave Bainbridge (Veil of Gossamer)

4. “Drivers Seat” (18:22) by The Flower Kings (Adam & Eve)

5. “The Creation” (18:23) by Neal Morse (One)

6. “A Gap in the Night” (18:22) by The Tangent (The World That We Drive Through)

7. “The Separated Man” (18:00) by Neal Morse (One)

8. “Love Supreme” (19:50) by The Flower Kings (Adam & Eve)

- Harvest of Souls, by IQ (Dark Matter) is one of the best for me (though some of our north americans friends don't like it )

For me it's 'Love Supreme' by The Flower Kings

I must remind the right honourable gentleman that a monologue is not a decision.

Seperated Man, Love Supreme and Harvest of Souls all get my vote.

Even if HOS is as bit of s Supper's Ready rip-off.

What about 'Delirium Cordia' by Fantomas?  It's 4 sides long.  74 mins.

Delirium Corda is awesome and I think it is the best epic of 2004 but the last 20 min suck, although it builds quite a bit of tension.  Oh and it is actually 1 side long on the cd

Seeing all the examples above, it encouraging that there is so much to choose from in this day and age.

Must get some Pain Of Salvation though...

Behind the Great Beyond - from Shadowlands by Glass Hammer

Love Supreme - from Adam & Eve by The Flower Kings

And though I know it wasn't released in 2004 (rather 2002), I just
discovered it in 2004 so I'm including it:

Forgiving Eden - from Forgiving Eden by A Triggering Myth

A co-worker of mine would tell you at least country is about real life. Not that fairy tales, dragon slaying, space travelling tripe you listen to. I of course, am not in his camp as far as line of thinking, but I just wanted to show ya how C & W enthuiasts think. To each their own.

The last 20 minutes works well the first few listens as it adds to the tension but it gets old once you have listened to it a ton of times.  By the way, do you know if Fantomas is making another album any time soon?
