If you like metal you could try out the band Finntroll, which is a combination of polka and metal.  It sounds like a bad idea but they are really awesome

I haven't heard Finntroll (even when I know a couple of trolls here), but you're right Aqualung, the combination of Polka and Metal sounds terribly wrong.

More jazz than prog, but there have been a couple of ECM releases which feature the accordion prominently recently:

Anouar Brahem - Le Pas Du Chat Noir - oud, piano and accordion play haunting, Eno like pieces.

Tomas Sztanko - From The Green Hill - another masterpiece from the veteran Polish jazz trumpeter.

'Like so many of you
I've got my doubts about how much to contribute
to the already rich among us...'

Check out Motion Trio. Not prog, but great nevertheless. Three guys on accordions, playing jazz, klezmer music and many other styles

Just a pre-emptive notice:  If any of you mention The Arcade Fire, I'm punching you in the face.  That album blows.

Thys certainly played the piano accordion on Hocus Pocus when I saw them here in the early 70's  - did you catch any of those gigs?

You can hear accordion on the Fabrizo de Andre with PFM albums, mainly in the song "un giudice".

I believe Keith Emerson plays accordion on "C'est la vie", on Greg Lake's side of "Works vol 1". He certainly did so when they performed it live.
