Topic: 35 minutes length Posted: January 18 2012 at 21:08 |
==List of Classic Era Prog Albums That Are 35 Minutes in Length==
I was laughing when listening to Moving Pictures, thinking "lame album, only 35 minutes long".
Then I realized it was 5 minutes longer than that. Not much longer but enough to remove the "lame" tag for me.
Then I remembered it was actually 2112 that was 35 minutes long. But then I checked, it was actually close to 39 minutes.
Now I'm confused. I really do remember a classic era prog album with the laughable length of 35 minutes. I just can't remember which one. Care to solve the puzzle for me?

You actually check length of albums to grade them?

Longer than 45 minutes = filler
In non-electronic prog music at least.

I don't listen for length (though when looking into a new band, I buy for length, if at all possible ). I care more about the quality of the music on the album than the quantity.

LOL, you're corrupted by the post-modern age.
Any album that exceedes the 50 minutes length is just crap, solid fact, you can check wikipedia.

You people are just jealous cos you don't find enjoyment in the new 70
minutes+ masterpieces that came out in the last ten years. I do. They
enrich my life in a way you'll never get to experience.

I enjoy plenty of very long albums. I don't require the length to enjoy an album, though.

Per un Amico is under 35 minutes and every bit a masterpiece. Length doesn't matter as long as the quality of the music is. Quality>Quantity as they say.

Length means nothing if you don't know how to use it.

Nico's "The Marble Index" was kept down to 30 minutes due to a concern that listeners might kill themselves. Nowadays it comes as an expanded 2 CD set with alternate versions and extra songs. At least someone is taking action against the population problem.

WHO'S THAT UNDER THE BRIDGE??
Oh and can't you just listen to two 35min albums in a row? If you print of an album cover and glue it onto the top of the second album you can make it look like you're listening to the same album. True story.
I now can't listen to Marillion - Misplaced Childhood without it being followed immediately by The Dillinger Escape Plan - Option Paralysis. They are both half of the same album don't you know?
