Mick Tucker is quite underrated, hes natural motorical fitnes made him a nuturally solid drummer. Who could easly do technical combinations and paradiddles and rudiments and made drumming look easy when it was actualy hard. Just like Roger Taylor hes drumming is best to measure when you see them live, becpuse theræy are so on the beat perfect in their drum strokes their intenvity is not captured well on tape becouse of their solidness lifts and support to song in such high way their technical skill behind it gets lost in their impecable skill of placement. Placement is an ivaluable skill a drummer needs to have.
drummers that are very good drummers in timing and superb placement is Kevin Godley, Paul Burgess, Michael Schrieve, Andy Newmark and Stuart Elliot Edited by Icarium - November 11 2019 at 02:33 |

^^ Mick Tucker was also very good at twirling the drumsticks between his fingers, which is not an easy thing to do.

In terms of style and feel my vote goes to Phil Collins, but if we were judging on technicality I would probably say Gavin Harrison or Carl Palmer.
John Bonham has got to be way up there too. |
|||
Ultimately bored by endless ecstasy!

John Bonham might have had the greatest right-foot in the rock drummer buisness, hes ability to accent and utualize the kickdrum has few equals. Collins left-foot is also formiddable.

this kind of devalues the poll (imo) as I could just sit here and click on Bonham multiple times to make sure he wins. Not that I would.

I didn't realise multiple voting allows you to click on the same drummer multiple times.

Whoa! I just noticed Nicko McBrain was on the list! Good thing I just now also realized you could vote for more than just one!
McBrain is badly overlooked for his talent on the skins and his fantastic contribution to Maiden's music. Dude definitely deserves more props.

I have Google to thank for Iron Maiden's drummer being included in the list, otherwise I may have overlooked him.

From this list I would go with Gavin Harrison just it front of Bruford, Phil & Palmer.
I'm a drummer & I have watched a lot of his instructional videos as well as his performances. He's got amazing technique and great understanding of different musical styles. One of my favorite players.

Where's Barriemore Barlow? From Wikipedia.......... "He was called "the greatest rock drummer England ever produced" by John Bonham. In a comment
on his drumming for the Jethro Tull albums he said; "I've always
admired people who invent—and on a percussion level, I admire inventors
of rhythm."

^^ There's no room for any more drummers. I already used up all 25 poll options.

Many fine drummers there.....chose Bruford....
a bit surprised that Baker only 3 votes and 10 for Bonham.

I always loved Micky Tucker's playing . Rock n Roll Disgrace should be listened to by anyone who might be a bit sceptical. And yes always enjoyed Roger Taylor as well. Seven Seas Of Rye especially but he also smashes it on the proggier parts of the Flash Gordon soundtrack. |

Just looking at the list a bit more and Alan White is definitely worth a vote. My favourite piece of drumming ever is his on Anne Of Cleves (Rick Wakeman ) closely followed by another track from the same album Catherine Parr. For a keyboard driven album it has some brilliant drumming!

There were some fine punk drummers as well. Rat Scabies , Budgie and Paul Cook (Sex Pistols) were all great . Jet Black was also decent although he is probably the most 'contained' sounding drummer of those times and it was perfect for the band.
