^ True (I almost forgot to vote). It is the most accomplished of them all, imo. But I'm still fond of The Sentinel... (and The Jewel and Smiling at Grief and Tales From the Lush Attic...)

The razamataz is a pain in the bum

Yep, it is a fantastic album, and so are the other two, but there is a reason why Marillion were and have remained the most successful of all these bands, and that is because their output has been consistently better.

My favourite lp of that period is 'Fact and Fiction' by Twelfth Night but of this list it has to be 'Tales from the Lush Attic' by IQ. Script and The Jewel are also great as is Silent Dance by Solstice.

The Sentinel by Pallas has some great parts but is patchy but i did see them live in Bristol on that tour and they were a great sounding and hard working live band.

sorry to be predictable  but I've gone for Script.

Not sure what I'd have gone for in 2nd place. Both The Sentinel and Lush Attic are great albums

I don't know all these and was never a great Marillion fan although Fugazi hits the spot for me.
Voted IQ pretty much by default although it's certainly a fine debut album if a bit frenetic at times. They have done some very sweet live versions of those tracks over the years that are actually better than the originals. It does however still carry a 'punky' charm in its own right.

1- Marillion - Script for a Jester's Tear
2- IQ - Tales From The Lush Attic
3- Pallas - The Sentinel
4- Arena - Songs from the Lions Cage
5- Satellite - A Street Between Sunrise And Sunset

OBS: I know that "The Sentinel" was Pallas' first official studio album, but wouldn't it be more interesting to put "Arrive Alive"? It is a live album but all songs (except the title track) are exclusive to this album (Queen of the Deep, The Ripper, Paris is Burning...) and were not included in the studio albums. It's an album almost as important as the other studio albums.

True, but I only put official studio albums.
For instance IQ released a cassette in 1982 called Seven Stories into Eight which they re-released on CD years later in 1998 plus a much better re-recording.
