There's plenty of them out there... just knowing the way prog fans work, they are all married to or dating men who can't stand prog...

They do exist. I know several myself. My ex girlfriend loved it, so does my new girlfriend. But I guess i'm pretty lucky One more example is the former lead-singer i the swedish band Sinkadus, who I know very well, as well as their violinist.

Erm perhaps it would be better to stop referring to these 'girls' & 'females' (I think you mean women) as strange alien intruders to this marvellous male world of prog. There are loads of women who love prog - they probably keep their heads down on this site to avoid the kind of ill-informed patronising chauvinism that seeps out of many of the posts. Remember: there is in fact more earth than sea...

My ex girlfriend was into prog, not suprising as she loves all music. But it really is the best thing when you can both appreciate it. It was me who got her into prog, Always used to walk home from school listening to BSS, She only got into that album after I let her hear, Still...you turn me on. I have excellent powers of persuasion. Now to find another girl to manipulate. (haha, i'm only talking about musical tastes here, please do not think otherwise)

Sorry Morgoth, I'm not really the marrying kind, unless of course, you look and sing just like Greg Lake, then I would consider it...

I'm dating a gorgeous blonde girl who has Jethro Tull and Rush vinyls along  Freddy Prince Jr. posters and Cosmo mag. posters on her wall. She is the only one I know thus far who has understood the "Hey aqualung" part on the movie, Weatherman too.

Wanted: Great looking woman willing to obsess over music as much as I do. Looking to co-habit and put up with my musical equipment in every courner of the house. Must be willing to see dodgy bands in various pubs and clubs around London at no notice whatsoever.

Found: one wife who appears to do all of the above.

Reminder to myself: must buy flowers and not be such an arse...
I must remind the right honourable gentleman that a monologue is not a decision.

Check out some of the ladies on the Rush In Rio DVD it proves fine looking music loving ladies do exist and are very very fine! My lass likes the Mars Volta, Camel and Yes but that is probably because she is subjected to it in my car on a daily basis!!

Hey! What's all the fuzz about prog girls? I'm a girl and I have listened to prog music all my life because of my mother who was a big fan. Even though I nowadays prefer the fresh sounds from Opeth, Porcupine Tree, Riverside, Blackfield and so on, doesn't mean I've abandoned my roots. I will never forget what set it off.

You know, In Sweden it's more common for a girl to be in to metal than anything else, and that includes prog. We even have e yearly festival with lots of progbands, this year we welcome Kansas, Pagan's Mind,  Dream Theater, Magnum, Within Temptation, Styx, Therion and Lana Lane to our stages (amongst many others) Check it out at http://www.swedenrock.com/frameset.cfm.
Welcome to Sweden!
Thanks mom for my musical roots

Two years ago i went to a Jethro Tull concert and i didn't see any girl...sad but true! And the average age was probably > 50...so sad! But they've been great: one of the best concert of my life for one of the greatest bands ever!

I saw plenty girls last year at the Progeny fest in London.  When Jadis came out, I thought every young girl there was gonna pull Gary Chandler off the stage... Gosh, it reminded me so much of my childhood...

And Morgoth... I'm probably old enough to be your mother... but atleast I got to hug and strangle Steve Wilson over the weekend... proving you're never to old to love new prog....
