For those who think this is just another symphonic band...

The early avantgarde output from After Crying is amazing (the debut especially), I dunno what to vote.

I would vote for The Decemberists, although I do like After Crying a lot. But things are interesting, so far, so I'll hold my vote. Then again, winner faces PT, so this is pointless for both bands.

I really like both bands but have to go with the Decemberists . After Crying's first two albums are stunning, but IMHO they never quite reached the same heights with their later work and certainly didn't stretch themselves musically as much as the Decemberists have.

Wow, I listened to the After Crying youtube link. It was truly stunning. I know what I am going to buy next.

The Decemberists for me. After Crying is pretty great, but IMO Picaresque/The Crane Wife/Hazards of Love are better than most of what AC did.

The Decembrists Hazards of Love is the best folk prog album of all time. Yes even better than Jethro Tull.

The Decemberists Although choosing between them and PT would make me explode, possibly.

After Crying is going to lose against such banality.

Would it be unfair to mention GY!BE's loss?
Or would that be kicking a dead horse?

Banality is in the eye of the beholder. You must have cataracts. I chose The Decemberists. Great band.

Not if I can help it ! Let's elect the team from Oregon. My vote goes to The Decemberists. Saw them this past Jan 31, and the show was great !
