The situation in India is more akin to a race war as opposed to civil war or revolution. It's hate violence at it's core.

Over the years and decades bad things come and go, and I seem to grow more and more jaded as time goes by. That's just how things are. Horrifying images of things that have happened in the world pass through my memory, linger for a while, and then fade.
But there is one picture I will never forget and that will haunt my dreams for as long as I live: Donald Trump standing in front of a boarded up church and holding up a bible. The ultimate evil-has-triumphed image.

If people can't see what kind of Mussolini-like fascist dictator-wannabe he is, they should be ashamed of themselves.

Yes, but he's really big on people getting tough. Whilst thirty feet underground, surrounded by the FBI, in a reinforced concrete bunker.

| The only passage in the bible Donald Trump would ever read is the Song of Solomon, and that only for the erotic descriptions in it.

There's a certain way that certain leaders hold the Bible.

While I was not entirely convinced by Joe earlier, now I am 100% convinced that he will make America sane again!

Yeah, I fell for that one too. The Hitler image is a photoshop.
This clown doesn't really need the comparison anyway.

No, what he actually said was "We will make Germany great again." No kidding. | What he also used to say repeatedly was "Vierzehn Jahre haben wir die Schmach
getragen" ("For fourteen years we carried the shame"). This referred to
the fourteen years between the treaty of Versailles in 1919 after the
end of WW1 and Hitler's takeover in 1933.
His way of
speaking was parodied with this saying: "Wirrr wörrrden döm deutschen
Soldatön nicht ein, nicht zwei, nicht drrrei, nein, wirrr wörden öhm
Vierrrfrrruchtmarrrmelade an die Frrront schickön" ("We will send the
Gerrrman soldierrr not one, not two, not thrrree, no, we will send him
fourrr frrruit marrrmalade to the frrront"). Mark the rolling "r"s and
the replacement of "e" and sometimes "i" with "ö" in this humorous saying; it was
characteristic for Hitler's way of speaking.

It occurred to me after I posted that it was probably photoshopped. Something was definitely off about Hitler's hand. On the other hand, there's a lot off about Trump.

Re Micky and the Nixonian effect: Nixon's fan base and trump's fans are quite different. Nixon appealed to the old Republican ways of law and order and it worked well for him.
trump on the other hand has gone out of his way to attract the rebellious anti-government crowd and they are not as stupid as they look. If trump brings the military into the cities, these anti-new world order guys are not going to like that. Some of the old republicans might like this approach, but these anti-authority types are liable to start seeing things they don't like such as a government that is over stepping. We'll see.

^ What you're describing is the shift that has occurred in US politics wherein support for conservatism has transferred from college educated/business-oriented white people to the working class, and support for progressivism has transferred from the working class to college educated/business-centric whites. This largely unanticipated change has caused disorientation in the American politik, and may explain some of the socioplitical confusion that has occurred since the 2016 election.
But I'd also agree that my post on the 'Nixon Effect' may not necessarily come to pass. It is a much different time and voting public than in the late '60s/early '70s.
