Check out some of the ladies on the Rush In Rio DVD it proves fine looking music loving ladies do exist and are very very fine! My lass likes the Mars Volta, Camel and Yes but that is probably because she is subjected to it in my car on a daily basis!!

I can confirm this. I was there!

I saw plenty girls last year at the Progeny fest in London. When Jadis came out, I thought every young girl there was gonna pull Gary Chandler off the stage... Gosh, it reminded me so much of my childhood...
And Morgoth... I'm probably old enough to be your mother... but atleast I got to hug and strangle Steve Wilson over the weekend... proving you're never to old to love new prog....

Oh my god Steven Wilson!!!...during In Absentia tour i was in the first raw and Steven just give me the song schedule...but for that photo...i really envy you!...but i have a similar photo with Steve Morse!

Hey! What's all the fuzz about prog girls? I'm a girl and I have listened to prog music all my life because of my mother who was a big fan. Even though I nowadays prefer the fresh sounds from Opeth, Porcupine Tree, Riverside, Blackfield and so on, doesn't mean I've abandoned my roots. I will never forget what set it off.
You know, In Sweden it's more common for a girl to be in to metal than anything else, and that includes prog. We even have e yearly festival with lots of progbands, this year we welcome Kansas, Pagan's Mind, Dream Theater, Magnum, Within Temptation, Styx, Therion and Lana Lane to our stages (amongst many others) Check it out at http://www.swedenrock.com/frameset.cfm. Welcome to Sweden! |
Long live Sweden Hejsan, hoppas allt går bra på festivalen (<---- Swedish)

Does it means that the few who listen to prog are ugly?

Of all the shows I've been to over the years, I can safely say that the line to the girls bathroom has always been longer at Yes concerts....

This is true, females are hard to find amoung the dominantly male prog audience. My last girlfriend dispised the genere, my idea for a date was cuddling up and throwing in Metropolis 2000(Dream Theater) and watching them perform the concept album, she was so bored by me explaining the story to her and once during an arguement between a friend and I about time signature in a particular song, she got fed up and yelled "Nobody gives a sh*t". Some woman can appreciate it though, I got my mom into Rush, and she is constantly borrowing "An Evening with John Pettrucci and Jordan Rudess", my sister is also into band such as Tool and Dream Theater because of a former boyfriend. Last week at the Wochester Mars Volta show I "met" a girl and we sung together during Roulette Dares and were making out by the end of the show.

Is that because Yes musicians are so talented that they make people wet their pants... literally?

No, basically I think its because Yes are just more "girl-friendly" to listen to.

Just to say that my girlfriend likes prog. When I met her I found her
sooo cute that the second day we met I had to ask her THE QUESTION...
"What kind of music do you like?". You should have seen my face when
she started talking about Genesis and Yes...
Think about this: would you be able to live with someone who liked poppy or techno music and played it constantly at home? .
With someone who would started saying "what the f$%& is that?" at
anytime you played your favorite records?.... How lucky I am, hehehe....

i do not believe beautiful girls who listen to prog are numerous; they mostly listen to mainstream music: hip hop, R&B, pop, dance. most of the beautiful women act according to the trends, because the biggest fear of the beautiful women is to be out of fashion. the beautiful woman wants to be desired, and today, perfect looks, social activities and normal behaviour are the keys to success for the beautiful women: the proof: you don't have to be talented to succeed in music nowadays. And if you listen to prog, then you don't follow the trend...
