...here's a thought; the Grey Room will be rather quiet on Thursday night, with no James, Dean, Andy or me....
...at least the rest of you will be able to hear yourselves think....

I'll be out for a couple of beers and a curry. Maybe I'll write something deep and meaningful when I get back. Well, there's a first time for everything!

[warning] Metal Alert

Dean,
You may be pleased to learn that after a great deal of deliberation, and more than 10 listens, I have decided that 'Dead Reckoning' IS on a par with 'Subsurface', and has been bumped up to 4.5 stars, accordingly....

Good man - that's pretty much how I voted in the recent poll
fandango wrote:
...also, 'La Masquerade Infernale' just keeps getting better with every listen, so that's been promoted too.... well, I'm not afraid to admit that my initial impressions aren't always entirely accurate....

Got that when it came out - absolutely brilliant album. Have you heard their Winds side project?
fandango wrote:
sadly, I don't think the same will be said of the Wuthering Heights CD I experimented with, which will no doubt find its way onto ebay, with the next batch..... |
off my radar - their name is enough to put me off.
I'm currently hooked on Visions of Atlantis's Trinity - nothing special, standard symphonic power metal, but they have a superb female vocalist - don't think I'll be buying their earlier albums though I might track down her previous band, Aesma Daeva...

I think Jared was refering to the Danish metal band.

Dean... Aspera Hiems...is next on my list. Visions Of Atlantis are more my Bro-In-Laws bag, but they are supporting Kamelot in April, so I shall get to see them....but they are the sort of band I tire of easily, I'm afraid...
Alan... No, WH are a Danish Prog/ Folk metal band...quite accomplished if you like that sort of thing...but I've decided I don't...

Ahh, Kate's not that bad, and after all she was "discovered " by Dave Gilmour.

It's actually in the small print for membership of PA - "any disrespect to Kate Bush is punishable by immediate expulsion and painful death".

Painful death first, then expulsion as it's also in the small print that dead people aren't allowed to be members of PA.

The wanderer has returned (no, not a certain Bolton Wanderer...) and is ever so tired, despite sleeping well last night. Withering Temptation were erm... not bad. The 69 Eyes were erm... terrible. I have nothing again that sort of music, but I couldn't stop laughing at them. The way they dressed for one, the way the vocalist span round on the spot every five minutes and the annoying style of the drummer, which really annoyed me. I couldn't hear the vocals either. They basically sounded like a camp Sisters of Mercy, mixed with a camp The Cult, with a bit of BOC mixed in too. Meh. I do like some Sisters of Mercy, but meh, not The 69 Eyes way. I was trying to decide how they could make their set any camper than it already was. As I said, Withering Temptation were not bad... although I swear I saw Sharon den Adel's lips stop moving and her vocals continuing... but maybe that was just me... Every song sounded the same, mind you. Heavy Intro Sharon singing, slow down of music Heavy bit Sharon singing, slow down of music Overly long heavy bit and outtro... Ad Nauseum. That was it, for almost every song! I knew exactly when the heavy bits were coming. Hmm. I did enjoy it though. I even got to meet up with my mate Mark (and his mate, who I've forgotten the name of), who crept to the front and met Nicky and I there (we were in the front row, after all). I have Nightwish to look forward to in March, woo! Oh and talking of Kate Bush, I started singing Heathcliffe and Babushka whilst queuing up. Yes, I'm mad. I am not sure what prompted this. Maybe I had a telekinetic mind-spasm that keyed me into the GRoom current conversation?

Out on the wiley, windy moors We'd roll and fall in green. You had a temper like my jealousy Too hot, too greedy. How could you leave me, When I needed to possess you? I hated you. I loved you, too. Bad dreams in the night You told me I was going to lose the fight, Leave behind my wuthering, wuthering Wuthering Heights. Heathcliff, it's me, your Cathy, I've come home. I´m so cold, let me in-a-your window Heathcliff, it's me, your Cathy, I've come home. I´m so cold, let me in-a-your window. Ooh, it gets dark! It gets lonely, On the other side from you. I pine a lot. I find the lot Falls through without you. I'm coming back, love, Cruel Heathcliff, my one dream, My only master. Too long I roamed in the night. I'm coming back to his side, to put it right. I'm coming home to wuthering, wuthering, Wuthering Heights, Heathcliff, it's me, your Cathy, I've come home. I'm so cold, let me in-a-your window. Heathcliff, it's me, your Cathy, I've come home. I'm so cold, let me in-a-your window. Ooh! Let me have it. Let me grab your soul away. Ooh! Let me have it. Let me grab your soul away. You know it's me--Cathy! Heathcliff, it's me, your Cathy, I've come home. I´m so cold, let me in-a-your window Heathcliff, it's me, Cathy, I've come home. I´m so cold, let me in-a-your window. Heathcliff, it's me, your Cathy, I've come home. I'm so cold.

I always think of Sir Harry Webb when I read "Heathcliff", as well as the lyrics to the childrens cartoon, "Heathcliff".
A classic that song is, but Babushka is better!

According to a website, those lyrics are incorrect.... WUTHERING HEIGHTS
Out on the wiley, windy moors
We'd roll and fall in green
You had a temper, like my jealousy
Too hot, too greedy
How could you leave me
When I needed to possess you?
I hated you, I loved you too
Bad dreams in the night
They told me I was going to lose the fight
Leave behind my wuthering, wuthering
Wuthering Heights
Heathcliff, it's me, oh Cathy come home
I'm so cold, let me in your window
Heathcliff, it's me, oh Cathy come home
I'm so cold, let me in your window
Oh it gets dark, it gets lonely
On the other side from you
I pine a lot, I find the lot
Falls through without you
I'm coming back love, cruel Heathcliff
My one dream, my only master
Too long I roam in the night
I'm coming back to his side to put it right
I'm coming home to wuthering, wuthering
Wuthering Heights
Heathcliff, it's me, oh Cathy come home
I'm so cold, let me in your window
Heathcliff, it's me, oh Cathy come home
I'm so cold, let me in your window
Ooh let me have it, let me grab your soul away
Ooh let me have it, let me grab your soul away
You know it's me, Cathy
Heathcliff, it's me, oh Cathy come home
I'm so cold, let me in your window
Heathcliff, it's me, oh Cathy come home
I'm so cold, let me in your window
Heathcliff, it's me, Cathy come home
I'm so cold
Heathcliff, it's me, oh Cathy come home
I'm so cold
Heathcliff, it's me, oh Cathy come home
I'm so cold

I've yet to find two websites with the same lyrics to Wuthering heights. I just grabbed the one with the fewest spelling mistakes.
