Has everyone forgotten the great voice and songwriting of Dave Cousins?

Jon Anderson is probably the duck's nuts (so to speak) but two names I haven't seen in this thread...

David Byron from Uriah Heep and Chris Thompson from whatever group he was singing on the day! Cool

And another female voice to add: Dolly Holmes from Emtidi ... simply beautiful Thumbs%20Up

A guy that does not fit the initial thread query but is truly worth a listen to is Mr. Doctor, the man of a 1,000 voices from Devil Doll. He is a remarkable human instrument!

I don't know if David Byron's voice could be described as pure but it was certainly magnificent.  Would be my first choice for the front man of a heavenly hard rock band.

Heather Findlay has the hottest voice... it's pretty clear and pretty pure as well

I'd highly recommend Opeth's Damnation record, as Mikael Akerfeldt has an undeniably warm voice. If you're not into growling, dont check into Opeth's other records, unless you can put up with it for good musicianship and haunting epic songs. But for his singing and singing only, Damnation may be up your alley like previously stated.

Lateley I've been paying closer attention to Grace Slick. there's a likely candidate, I find.
Apart from a clear voice, she could pull off some rough stuff with it.
I'm quite shocked really, I stumbled across a site with recent photos of her, and she looks like one of the cast of 'The Golden Girls' now. Good that I didn't marry her after all, as I wanted to about 20 years back. Smile

Jon Anderson is what came to my mind when i saw this thread, clean and beautiful. Pye Hestings from Caravan have a pretty sweet and clean voice too. Peter Hammill can sing as clean as anyone ( Refuges, Out of my book, house with no door, Man-Erg...) but usualy shoose to sing in a very unclean voice. Wink
Allso not realy prog maybe but to be honest not far away Tim Buckley have one of the cleanest and most beautiful voices i have ever heard, simply stuning. Shocked

Who wants clear and pure?

Give me Peter Gabriel, Peter Hammill, Fish, Kate Bush, Peter Nicholls or Dave Cousins any day.

Although, for nice, smooth vocals, I will recommend Dave Gilmour, Steve Wilson or Jon Anderson.

Earlier I voted for Grace Slick, but I've had some extensive Renaissance sessions, and I'd like to change it to Annie Haslam.
