Why not? There's plenty of threads that celebrate the positive, so why not have the balance? I also believe that while we all want to be surrounded by happiness, our true fascination lies in things that get us down. Maybe some folk seek solutions to those issues, through discussion, or maybe sounding off about them is a form of therapy.

Embrace the misery!

We need balance. We need to be fair and balanced. Just like FauxNews.  Tongue

What is the most depressing album of all time (I of course realize the subjective connotations) I am just looking for opinions.

Type O Negative's aptly-titled World Coming Down takes the cake if we're picking from albums that are meant to be depressing. Everything dies, after all.

Because while you may be on a rainbow cloud partying with the other Sith Lords, some of us are incapable of feeling joy. And it's the only thing that's REAL.

Aye. Lou Reed's Berlin does a fine job. As does The Final Cut, Songs of Love and Hate. I am quite the fan of Cohen. AIC's Dirt & Jar of Flies are good for a depressive fix...

you know what i hate? those fund raising things... for any reason....

it is hypocritical by all sides involved...

people who raise it, well those might mean it actually, but after them, the money collected go through numerous hands, God knows, how much of that amount reaches whoever is supposed to reach...

us, pretending to care only once or twice a year, giving much less we can afford, selfishly 'doing' our part of this theatre of so-called "Humanity Hour", right before we turn our backs again to the third world, the victims of wars etc, and continue to consume unnecessary goods....

the governments and every other kind of state who are supposed to take care of the poor, prevent war, fund research for all diseases etc and after the fund raising go on tv and praise the magnitude of the human race, a race that did all this....

i refuse to give one penny through this. just to be clear, i'm not a misanthrope, i choose the root of my charity, that's all... i hate it when they tell me: "You have the power to make this war a better place". You know why? Because i do have that power and i know i do. But YOU don't get to tell me that because YOU are the cause of all this and i have the power to not vote YOU, to strike against YOU, to fight YOU... don't ask me for my money... i'm already being underpaid because of YOU!!!!!!!!

-music is like pornography...

sometimes amateurs turn us on, even more...

-sometimes you are the pigeon and sometimes you are the statue...

Like many poisoned creatures, the afflicted can develop a taste for the venom, if that's the only sustenance they can see on the table.  Hopefully (sic) by visiting this site and expressing your suffering, you already know (but are in denial of) how we inoculate ourselves from this 1st world malaise that is tantamount to a fear of happiness.

Time for my nap now methinks....
