I can't say I was disappointed in The Lamb.. but I never caught what many see in it.  I strongly prefer the earlier.. and later albums.  Never was 'fan' enough to be disappointed though, I just listen to the Genesis album's I like.

As far as Close to the Edge.   Of course it won't be as powerful as it appears in the DVD... in retrospect none of the 'epic' songs off of that DVD were as powerful.  The Orchestra went a long way to adding that something extra that obviously wan't there on the album tracks.  Was it just me or were some of those orchestra members hotter than hell hahahah.

i've got 'Symphonic Live" DvD
its fantastic,
but i prefere original studio recording,
because climax of the song sounds magikal than Live

oh I agree.. I've always prefered the original studio recording as opposed to live recordings, but I do think the orchestra adds something significant to songs which we had been listening to for 25 odd years. Especially on Gates of Deliruim from  the DVD.

You are absolutely right,

For that particular song, (Gates of Delirium)

For example, to me one of such is 'Discipline' by King Crimson.
I agree about Discipline by King Crimson, but also Third by Soft Machine, The end of an ear by robert Wyatt and Tarkus by ELP

I agree 100% I hadn't heard DT prior to this and i was hearing great things about it from my firends. so i went to the local cd store and bought it and It didn't even come close to my expectations. the only song that i really liked on the entire album was Octovarium  and i only liked form 13:00 to the end. big dissapointment.

I'm a firm believer in the philosophy of a ruling class. Especially since I rule.

I was extremely disappointed by CTTE, so that's ok :-)

CTTE and ITCOTCK were almost crushing disappointments. Maybe my expectations were too high, but I think that they're not even top 10 albums...

Moving Pictures

My first Rush album, after listining to 2112, and being amazed. Seemed way too conventional for me, and I STILL don't know why people like "The Camera Eye" so much. Luckily, I bought Hemispheres, and we all lived happily ever after, until I found out how short Hemishpheres was. Oh well.

Aqualung was annoying, I mean the actual song was very good but the rest was not as good as I had been told.

It's quite funny... Some people were disappointed by albums that are widely considered masterpieces! Well, we're all different, and this is a good thing indeed.Wink

BTW, how come that no one mentioned one of the biggest prog disappointments of all time - Asia's self-titled debut album?Confused

I wasn't really dissapointed by that one, though I gave it 3 stars. It was intresting and fun to listen to.
