Well, most of them has already been mentioned, but here  are a few of my favourites, anyhow.

Genesis ~ Supper's Ready
Genesis ~ The Musical Box
Genesis ~ The Return of the Giant Hogweed
Genesis ~ The Fountain of Salmacis
Träd, Gräs och Stenar ~ Sanningens Silverflod (very good for being a fade-out)
Jethro Tull ~ Thick As A Brick
Emerson, Lake & Palmer ~ The Great Gates of Kiev

Someone said something about us thinking only symphonic prog bands could do good endings, so I'll bring you:

Ixthuluh ~ Rubber Rope To Repose After Storm

Gentle Giant "As old as you're young": Shulman's voice slowly fades, a moment of silence and ,from the nothing, a hit of drum...simple!
More epical: "Grendel" from Marillion

A Day in the Life - great orchestral chaotic climax, and a chord that lasts forever...

Yes - Gates of Delirium,

Rush - Cygnus X-1 (this ending is wild!) 2112, Xanadu,

Marillion - Incubus, The Invisible Man(powerful, especially live DVD), Man of a Thousand Faces, Easter

Also the end of Genesis' The Lamia. Hackett's solo at the end is brilliant; so desperate and melancholy. And then Gabriel's quick little fade outro on the flute.

There's just too many.... this is by no means exhaustive!

newbie on the forum but an old prog music lover...an amazing ending not just for a song but for an album it came to my mind as soon as I read what the poll was about..someone already have mentioned it:

Shadow Of The Hierophant from Hackett's first solo album

Rutherford (who co-wrote it) and Collins played on the whole record...don't wanna think how it would had sounded with Banks on keyboards, produced & arranged by Genesis...

It has to be ELP's Knife Edge, i can always remember the first time i played it. It was on an old record player and it finished as if someone had pulled the plug on the old record player. i thought f**k the thing's knackered, imagine my embarressment when i found out it was intentional, and my record player was ok

If this makes no sense, get a turntable turn it on and play knife edge, then you'll know what i mean.

Oh, and has anyone mentioned Roundabout? That has an awesome ending, going from the vocal harmonies to the final bit of classical guitar.
The crux of the biscuit is the apostrophe.

I mentioned before Siberian Kathru because of the great lines of Howe by the end of it. Now I realize there's another Yes song that ends with Howe making of his at the end, and that's Wonderous Stories, which is one of those songs that gets you hooked when you're new to prog but later starts to get eclipsed by the other songs in the album (at least that happened to me when I got Yes - Classic!).

The almost-end of Tull's "A Passion Play" after the 40' is fantastic... when Ian sings 'Hail, Son of Kings...' and then after the 42' he changes time singing 'Break the circle, stretch the line...' and again 'The passengers on the ferry-crossing...'. AMAZING!!!

The song "Ice Age" from Ambrosia's Road Island album.
Not many song start with a Saber Toothed Tiger Growl and
end with a Glacier Crash! Just an awesome Metal/Prog song!

Despite I love Supper's Ready, I don't like the ending of this song, the fading is simply anti climatic.

A long epic, with such drama, a fight of good against evil can't simply fade, the ending goes in crescendo until the last word and then slowly vanishes, totally anti climatic.

It should have ended (IMO) right after Peter sings the word Jerusalem, in that way the song would finish  exactly when they reached the climax, as they did in The Musical Box, where they only aded a short closing  after the touch me section, but this short instrumental ending keeps growing, instead of the boring ending of Supper's Ready that fades.

Like many others, I really love the ending of Musical Box. Many other Genesis songs have really great engings like Chamber Of 32 Doors and Ripples... Supper's Ready is very good too('to the new Jerusalem' -part, Ivan has a good point)

Other great endings:

Museo Rosenbach - Dell'eterno Ritorno (The ending is really amazing and gives me goosebums every time)
Yes - Starship Trooper, Close To The Edge

Led Zeppelin - Stairway To Heaven

Gentle Giant - Three Friends

Spirit - Soldier (The last track on the Twelve Dreams of Dr Sardanicus -album)
