The "short songs" thread in Prog Blogs makes me think it would be nice to have collection/poll of really short songs, so I start this thread for you to nominate songs (optimally with link) of which I then later will produce two polls. There are two categories:
Category 1 - max 90 seconds
Category 2 - between 91 and 180 seconds (3 minutes).

Here are my nominations (at least those I think of right now):
Category 1 - Art Zoyd has a number of albums that are split up into quite short tracks and I love what they do with those.

Category 2 - love that song!

It's been a while... I have it on vinyl only.
No Civilization here. Tried it on but it would not fit.
Seems only a thin veneer. A little rubbing and it comes off quick.

What a nice idea for a thread, Lewian! I see two of my favourites have already been mentioned (especially Dun Riggell! ❤️), but I'll have to have a deep think and a trawl through the old collection to find any others (I'm sure they exist - but I need time at my age! )

For category 2, this is a lovely way to use two and a half minutes:

Soldato of the Pan Head Mafia. We'll make you an offer you can't listen to.

Tough to find stuff for category 1 (tried to find something that sounded like a complete piece, rather than an excerpt from a concept album), but it turns out the original version of Frank Zappa's Pound For A Brown is exactly 90 seconds long. I do prefer the longer version from Zappa In New York, though.

Another Jethro Tull nomination for category 2 - Ian Anderson had quite a lot of short, mostly solo acoustic pieces, but I think Fire At Midnight really captures the sound of the full band in a short time-span.

I like that you've given them hurricane-like categories.  Smile
