My current favourites are Arena, just. They are a nice
blend between hard rock and prog and I love the over-blown themes of
their albums.
I like a lot of IQ's stuff but the vocals are...odd (?)
Pendragon's latest is OK,but yet again the vocals......... The older stuff is even worse, vocally!
Marillion, once were great but in the very distant past...I'm going to see Fish a week tomorrow. |
Tony, you should try IQ's latest "Dark Matter". I was never sure about
IQ's vocals but he's cracked it on this one. Personally I've never been
that keen on Marillion due to Fish's vocals. It's all a matter of taste
in the end.

Had to be Arena, even though I like the others. Arena have been consistent throughout all their albums, Marrillion and Pendragon have had their ups and downs. And IQ have their too prominent drumming?? Otherwise it would be a very close race with Arena

- Marillion - the later albums with Hogarth (for the professional and slick Porcupine Treeish sound)
- Marillion - Fish-era (for the charm and the nostalgia)
I can't stand IQ and I don't like the few Pendragon and Arena tracks I've heard.

1) Marillion (Fish's era) 2) IQ (that's 2nd only because I managed to connect to DM only) 3) Arena\Collage (love them both equally) 4) Pendragon.

1. Marillion (Fish era) 2. Pendragon 3. IQ 4. Marillion (Hogarth era) 5. Arena
Pendragon and IQ are very close, but I still got "Are you sitting comfortably?" by IQ and still am very disappointed about that era of IQ (2 bad albums). Pendragon only created one weak "Kowtow".
