Rush didn't make any bad albums in my opinion
Vapor Trails is my fave from these 3, especially One Little Victory

Clockwork angels for me. They really managed to go out with a winner, not any band achieves such a thing.

Not a big fan of VT yet but I'll try to be patient with it. As for your last paragraph I mostly agree, however, I think "faithless" is rather nice(it grew on me) even though I'm not an atheist. I played it for my mom who is though and she liked it. There might be one or two others besides them that are ok but on my first few listens I didn't care much for it other than the ones you mentioned also.

Don't know 'Trails or 'Arrows. Do know that they'd have to be very good indeed to beat out 'Angels.

I can agree with that. I turned by back on Rush after the disappointing Presto and the deception that is Roll the Bones, but with Clockwork Angels they were back. After Signals, Grace under Pressure was a minor letdown (but still a good album in the context of 1984); only Hold Your Fire comes rather close.

Vapor Trails is good and Snakes & Arrows is decent, but Clockwork Angels was their best album since Signals or perhaps Grace Under Pressure. Absolutely gushing with creativity and passion

Copy that! I love Vapor Trails. It knocked me out of my chair from first listen and I still think it's their best of the last three. This may come as a shock, but IMHO, Snakes & Arrows is uneven. Outside the fantastic instrumentals and "Far Cry," it doesn't call to me. |

Not a massive fan of any of them tbh. Tried many times to get into Clockwork Angels but it's not happening, something about the production/compression/volume that makes it hard to listen to for me.

I could easily pick any of them. S&A has great songs with 3 instrumentals and fantastic lyrics. CA is a wonderful journey, totally dig the theme/concept and steampunk is bitchin'.
Vapor Trails is my pick though. Sentimental reasons mainly with the return of Neil Peart and Rush back to the touring road and making great music again. VT is hard, raw and filled with power and angst. The less than appealing mix of the original version fits the theme, the album is all in your face..One Little Victory says it all.

I guess Snakes & Arrows. I don't know, something happened with them that I didn't dig towards the end. I found the production on these to be very muddy & grungy ( for lack of a better word), especially the guitar parts. It seemed like a lot of people liked these albums because they were heavier then some of the previous ones but none of these really worked for me. (although they did have some moments)

I tried to get into these albums, but after a few spins I lost all interest.

Clockwork Angels. It's their best album in years. S&A was ok.
Tbh, when I listen to Rush it's rarely anything recorded after Power Windows, with the occasional exception of Presto. |

I went just as easily for S&A, best (but not better) album since Moving Pictures Only heard Trails twice, both times catching a migraine , because of the incredibly bad production job. |

I'm not a big fan of it. In fact I probably prefer test for echo. However, I admit I need to listen to it more.

Snakes & Arrows. I love the fact that it's got 3 instrumentals. Vapor Trails is very energetic and an exciting comeback, but its production robs much of its charm. I prefer the remixed version. Clockwork Angels is actually near the bottom of their whole discography. With the exception of Caravan and BU2B, I haven't been able to find a melody I can consider unforgettable.
