What I gather from all of these posts is that you don't really like music all that much.

3 stars are very good albums

ps - Dont forget that I grade stiffly using the full 1-5 star rating system.
5 being masterpiece, dont give this mark to many
4 being near masterpiece, or very good, classic sound, defining
3 being really good, some may consider classic, worthy listen
2 being good or collectors or those who really like the band, clone bands
1 being some good some fair songs, fair clone bands, not bad

anything below this I dont consider worth ratingBig smile

Funny that two you give***** Ashra: New Age of Earth and  Cluster: Zuckerzeit are not at all krautrock albums (I know they are on this site), Lard Free are french. That leaves Eroc which I haven't heard yet.

Yuu give Ash Ra Tempel's debut, Tago Mago and Yeti ***. Phallus Dei **! All are considered classics of the genre. Do you actually like krautrock?

Zuckerzeit is the most commercial Cluster album too, and the best selling I think. FAR from the best IMO, and I have all of the classic albums up to Curiosum.

DB prefers kosmiche music to traditional krautrock I think, hence low ratins for Can and ADII, that's what I gather from his posting in the past.

By the way DB, I noticed you hadn't rated Between's "Hesse Between Music." If you haven't heard it, check it out, it's definitely on of the more unique krautrock albums IMO.

Kosmiche after experimental Krautrock in the early 70's is superior, IMO. Again this is mostly psychedelics music and hence Kosmiche is the vehicle under that influence. I like Krautrock as a whole but find Annexus Quams and Erocs and Dzyans best works superior to the usual noisehead stuff that many claim as the best, sounds still experimental without direction. Though AQ, E and D seemed to have focus on what they were trying to achieve and it works, IMO. Holger Czukays best work steps up the game in the early 80's, again IMO. As for Can they were trying with great musicians and many ideas to change the face of music, I think as a whole they werent able to achieve what they set out to do, I give them much credit for the effort but some was wasted.

anything 3 stars I really like, but dont necessarily consider it classic or masterpiece, maybe maximum effort?

I am a big fan of kraut Rock and have written my fair share of reviews. I think if you want to rate a band you  should back it up in words, you say nothing about your ratings.

Agreed, especially considering how your rating system doesn't go by the site's established standards.  All you're accomplishing right now is lowering the average ratings for most of those albums, which certainly won't do anything to help promote them.

you guys are worse than my wife!Pinch

my standard

5 being masterpiece, dont give this mark to many
4 being near masterpiece, or very good, classic sound, defining
3 being really good, some may consider classic, worthy listen
2 being good or collectors or those who really like the band, clone bands

progarchives

Rating :
Essential: a masterpiece of progressive music
Excellent addition to any prog music collection
Good, but non-essential
Collectors/fans only
Poor. Only for completionists

doesnt seem to be a WHOLE lot of difference, many see 500 albums as 5 star, I think of maybe 50 as worthy of this distinction. Archives 1 may equal my 0, oh well, each to his own interpretation.

you saved me a lot of time; mate!!! I was just trying to figure out a way to express my feelings Wink
(I haven't heard Eroc, either... but the first couple of Grobschnitt releases are great, especailly Solar Music Live)

btw; you needen't justify yourself writing "they're on this site"... You aren't saying they're not prog at all; just not Kraut enoughWink... Both albums are more progressive electronic than anything, Ashra thing is there for the sake of convenience (and for most of the later stuff of the full-fledged band), and I really don't understand what the heck is Cluster looking for in Krautrock... OK, for the first two albums maybe; but the restDead (I don't say bad, they're progressive electronics!)

one adition: Manuel Götsching's first solo release is also a classic IMHO...
Listen to Turkish psych/prog; you won't regret:
Baris Manco,Erkin Koray,Cem Karaca,Mogollar,3 Hürel,Selda,Edip Akbayram,Fikret Kizilok,Ersen (and Dadaslar) (but stick with the '70's, and 'early 80's!)

It's a very strange evaluation...it seems that the pioneers of this freaky space- out genre and the golden years are almost ignored in favour of a very soft grass.

You forgot to mention big names as Agitation Free, The Cosmic Corridors, Paternoster, Ikarus...

I'm sorry but German Oak self title is one of the most amazing stuffs I've heard in the genre...gorgeous sense of darkness and definitely propulsive.

"What I gather from all of these posts is that you don't really like music all that much.": that's a very hard reproach, I can't agree.
