Topic: Les Claypool Posted: March 10 2007 at 17:48 |
I was just currious why Les Claypool is not found in the archives. Primus is here, and as a long time fan I would have to say that his solo material is far more prog than Primus.

I think he woul fit perfectly, at least in Prog Related. Colonel Claypool's Bucket of Bernie Brains - The Big Eyeball in the Sky sounds very proggy to me. He sounds like a great addition.

I'm disappointed - neither of these players are avant-garde!

Colonel Claypool's Bucket of Bernie Brains has been cleared for PA addition as far as I know. Not really sure about his solo stuff except for "Highball with the Devil" which I have, but haven't listened to it for a while so Im not really sure about it's "proggyness".

Ah, Good. That album, at least, is much closer to Prog than Primus. Though I do enjoy both.

Yeah, and Oysterhead is here, too. Why not ol' Les?

I would recomend the Les Claypool and the flying Frog Brigade Set 1. In my humble opinion it is Les at his best.

my two cents ...take it up with the admins.... Oysterhead and Primus were terminated with extreme prejudice right out of AR into where they belong (?) PR. If Claypool is to be included.. that is where he'd go... and that is an admin call...

His solo album Of Whales And Woe is definitely proggier than his works with Primus and C2B3, but still I think Micky hit it right on the nose and he merits inclusion in at least PR.

PR is fine for me, his work can be very progressive at times, just not all of the time.

with a ringing endorsement like that.... I'll kickstart my Heart for PA's campaign into full swing hahhaha

Oh, I could go off about how amazingly progressive and amazing they are, how the Staff is crazy for not adding him, and how I know more about Progressive rock than several intelligent collaborators.
But, I'd rather be honest about it.

Not only Primus and Oysterhead, also Attention Deficit is included here, so there´s no reason for me to exclude him. His playing is quite innovative to deserve great attention

Is it true that Claypool was in a mental hospital?

Probably. Les is one excentric guy. Brilliant on bass though.

I hear that a new Priimus album is supposed to be coming out soon.
I hope it's good.
