I think similar polls have been created already and Echoes won every time.

I totally agree about Interstellar Overdive, but apart Alan's Psychedelic Breakfast all of them are masterpieces.
Did I write "her best?"  I was meaning "Their" of course Confused

Tricky one. I voted for Echoes, but I love shine on 1-5, Atom Heart mother, Saucer, the narrow way, pigs, etc.......as I said very tricky....

This! Although if I had to choose one, it would be parts 6-9. Really been digging those parts lately.

Pigs for me.  Doesn't seem to be a very popular choice...but damn, it takes my breath away.  Of course this could also be said of Echoes, Atom Heart Mother etc., but Animals is my favorite Floyd release, and Pigs is its height for me.

The tipping factor, of course, are Wright's beautiful, stark glissandi.

but that's a false context; there is NO context in which the word epic is primarily based on the length of something.  Why didn't you say best songs over 10 minutes?

1. noting or pertaining to a long poetic composition, usually centered upon a hero, in which a series of great achievements or events is narrated in elevated style:Homer's Iliad is an epic poem.
2.
resembling or suggesting such poetry: an epic novel on the founding of the country.
3.
heroic; majestic; impressively great: the epic events of the war.
4.
of unusually great size or extenta crime wave of epic proportions.

If you're going to be condescending and pedantic, at the very least try to be right.

1. The emphasis of this one is the great achievements etc.

2. and 3. not relevant

4. 10 minutes is by no stretch of the imagination "of unusually great size or extent" when it comes to progressive rock

Epic is a very multifaceted word. It can mean many things. In this case, in this very specific context, I have delegated it to mean songs over 10 minutes, because 10 minutes is a rather long time for a Pink Floyd song-notice how there are only a little more than ten?-and because it's easier to use this criteria than to make up some completely arbitrary system and have people asking why I included "Us and Them" and not "[fill in Personal Favorite Pink Floyd Song here].

You can continue to be pedantic, petty and misinformed, or you can hop off my jock and go somewhere else. I've done nothing wrong in regards to language or anything else. Why you insist on (wrongly) harping on my vocabulary errors is a mystery to me, but I'd request that you quit cluttering up the thread with this nonsense, if that's okay with you.
