So I just purchased KD's "Coyote". This will be my first experience with this band (and RIO/Avant-Garde, in general).

I'm rather excited to listen to it and I hope it's a great one Smile

Without spilling too much, how would you guys rate the album? One of your favorites of the year?; KD's best work?; etc.

I rate it 9 out of 10, but I'm a fan person. I did take me a lot to get into it (you might expect the same), since the shift in style is quite strong. It's more of a new-wave/goth meets psychedelic jazz album, definitely not the usual "prog" or the usual Kayo Dot. Not something to appeal too many tastes from PA; I can agree with all the takes on this album that I've seen so far (including **).

^ Yeah, I'm expecting it to be a grower. Sounds pretty interesting.

I'll post something later regarding my first listen.

Previous KD albums are quite different (what doesn't mean - not so good, just -different)

^ Oh well LOL

It's a small risk and I only paid $4.95 for it on Amazon, so not too shabby Thumbs Up

The mp3 download on your thread, however, is not available anymore...what did that contain?

It was a download link for the same file that is being streamed in the other link (a full live performance of Coyote). Thanks for noticing, I removed the dead link.

Yeap. Someone ripped the online radio streaming and reuploaded it.

@Geo: IMO there aren't post-rock influences in Toby Driver's bands, but there are similarities, yes.

You can rip the stream too if you like it and want to keep it on your PC, it's simple.

Its the best album I've heard from this year by some distance, in fact its about as good as their classic album Choirs of the Eye, which means its one of the best albums I have. Of course, I am a huge Toby Driver fanboy.
Spending more than I should on Prog since 2005
