This is my 25 random tracks, with a small review :
1 (4) Quicksilver Messenger Service – Mona :
This is California late 60’s in a nut. Nice !, grows old well.
2 (2) Yugen – Skellotron 003
I Like Yugen, but this is just a piece of sound inbetween tracks, nothing special
3 (5) Kate Bush – The Saxophone Song
Bush at her best, from the outstanding debut.
4 (1,5) Choking Victim – In Hell
American Hardcore/Punk/Ska, the particular track, a bit overstressed.
5 (4) Supertramp – School
Supertramp dosent hit me, as they did back then, its one of their better songs though.
6 (3) No-Man– Born Simple
From flowermix CD version. Its an ongoing heartbeat rythm, with ambient soundscrablings on top (Wilson/Fripp). Not a favorite No-man track, not a favorite ambient track either, but its ok.
7 (4,5) Pink Floyd – San Tropez
Lovely, soft and very relaxed, good old floyd, what can you say.
8 (5 ) Genesis – The Chamber of 32 Doors
Wow, hit one of my all time favorites, Genesis at the absolute top. From the amasing Lamb.
This deserves 6 stars, what a story too.
9 (2,5) Sparks – How Are You Getting Home?
Funny nostalgy, but it is, as with most Sparks, more fun than actualy great music.
10 (2,5) Electric Light Orchestra – Alright
Straight forward rock, old style. Dooes sound a bit outdated
11 (5) Frank Zappa – Inca Roads
A Zappa masterpiece, from The Lost Episodes (1996), beauti’ sounds very Gentle Gain’ish
12 (3,5) Slipknot – Gematria (The Killing Name)
Very powerfull track, i like the energy. A headbanger !
13 (4) The Cure – Three
Allways had a weak spot for those early Cure tracks. So simple – so dry.
14 (5) Pink Floyd – Fearless
Meddle again, says a lot about statistics, considering the huge amount of tracks to pick from.
Anyway this is a true masterpiece, and a nostalgi tripp too, Wonderfull. I can allmost smell the incense (or what it is).
15 (3,5) King Crimson – Improv: Cerberus (live in Central park)
From all the Improv’s, from this period, realeased on “Live Crimson” albums. This does not stand out as one of the best. But on the other hand, i allways get great pleasure from listning to them live.
Bruford as allways a beast.
16 (4,5) Pink Floyd – Remember a Day
I dont listen too A Saucerful of Secrets that often, when in the mood for early Floyd, i tend to end up with Piper at the Gates. But this is a very strong early Floyd track. Did somebody say Mushroom.?
17 (3) Grand Funk Railroad – Feelin' Alright
Fine, feel good rock music, when in the mood. But not right now.
18 (4) Joan Armatrading – The Weakness In Me
What a vocal, great Armatrading song.
19 (3,5) Whitesnake – Still of the Night
Classic Heavy, Coverdale at his best. Just never up there with Zepplin, Purple or Sabbath.
Maby it needs some uglyness ?
20 (2) David Bowie – I Took a Trip on a Gemini Spaceship
Bowie trying to do something very modern, but not making it. Gives me next to nothing.
21 (?) Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina – Canticum Canticorum - Vox dilecti mei
Classical vocal music, i like it, but im just not qualified to rate this kind of music.
22 (3) David Byrne – Something Ain't Right
Byrne is allways bringing forward a smile on my lips, he sends so much humour and energi.
This is not one of his best songs, but its not bad either.
23 (?) Giuseppe Verdi – Otello, Act3: A terra! ...si... nel livido fango (Desdemona)
Opera, i still dont actualy get it, even though i sometimes like listning to a bit of it.
So again im not qualified to try rate.
24 (2) Bad Religion – Come Join Us
Bad religion plays a kind of soft melodic punk, i could live without.
25 (4) Pain of Salvation – Void Of Her
Pain is one of the bands i discovered quite resently, still growing on me.
