Nice listen ... super!!!

It would be great if this was available on DVD ... it's a great concert and I could not locate it ... besides the fact that I could not find the musicians for it ... JL Ponty is recognizable anywhere ... but the others are ... I'm not sure.

It also needs to be remastered VERY BADLY ... you can't hear Gayle half the time as she is blasted out by the violin and guitar.

Mahavishnu.....1974 Montreux jazz fastival.....
Mahavishnu John McLaughlin - Guitar Jean-Luc Ponty - Violin Gayle Moran - Vocals, Fender Rhodes, Hammond Organ Ralphe Armstrong - Bass Narada Michael Walden - Drums Steve Kindler - Violin Carol Shive - Violin Marsha Westbrook - Violin Phillip Hirschi - Cello Steve Frankovitch - Horns Bob Knapp - Flute, Percussion
One does nothing yet nothing is left undone.

While I’m here:

Like them or not (I love ‘em) there’s nothing else like Wapassou. This was originally split over two sides of vinyl, but it’s really one 40-minute opus.

I wasn't familiar with either band. I just checked them out, and got the two Syrinx albums. Great stuff! Thanks for the recommendation!

Glad you dug them!

You people are on it: Renaissance and Vak and Joni and Nil and "Tenemos" and Kate and Gilli--you're definitely covering some of my favorites.

There must be something to add with Anneke Van Giersbergen or Amy Darby or Pascale Son.

Here's one:

Nil, "Le Gardien", from Novo Sub Sole...

This was one I missed until just recently. Great combination of sounds. Can't wait til my copy arrives.

I don't know if you are familiar with the other Maurin brothers projects, but if not I recommend checking out the first album by Thork, Urdoxa, and the two Syrinx albums (as well as the earlier Nil album Quarante Jours Sur Le Sinaï).

My copy arrived. Fantastic album. I'll check out the others you mentioned.

Aleena Gibson of Kaipa is my favorite female vocalist. Is that okay?

There's also Circle Of Illusion, they have also a male vocalist here but I think it's the female that takes the spotlight, you can decide if it works for you.

I'm not a big fan of Magenta but I know this song just 15 seconds short of 15 minutes. Go to 49:30 on the video

and this I found searching for their first song Wink

Pretty much stole all my suggestions

At 11 minutes, Android Domina by Japanese prog chicks Ars Nova may be little short, however length may prove irrelevant. Wink

Would like to know what the OP took from these great suggestions. So many fine choices for sure.
When I think of ‘Female fronted Prog’, my initial thoughts veer towards Renaissance, Jefferson Airplane, Curved Air, Spirogyra, and my faves - Magenta. And then some.
