I actually know at least half the albums here, which might be something of a record for me in these Random Album Clashes, and somewhat predictably, I'm voting for Pink Floyd again. Smile

Some great albums here (including the fantastic Breakfast in America), but Heresie needs some love - especially just a few days after Roger Trigaux's sad passing.

Well I own 10 of these. I will go;
Tull
Hackett
Led Zep (underrated album).

Easy - Mr. Hackett.
Tull, The Floyds, and Zep are no slouch either.

Some nice stuff: Zeppelin, Tull, Kansas, Tangerine dream, but Univers Zero beats them all. They operate on another level completely. I would vote Jethro if UZ werent included.

I own about ten of these. Too many winners in this list! '79 was a great year. Might come back and vote for Force Majeure, Danger Money or Stormwatch.

Very interesting, many nice albums here. Today I like Spectral Mornings a bit more than Heresie, but it could well be the other way round on another. I might occasionally even choose Jethro Tull or Supertramp.

Voted for Hackett, but 'Downwind' is really good, and the title tracks is superb.

1979:  the release of the last, great prog album: Henry Cow's 'Western Culture'.  The year before they had invited their friends, Univers Zero, to the inaugural RIO festival in London.  'Heresie' is another fantastic album from that year.

Univers Zero ahead of Tangerine Dream, only album I would have put ahead of Heresie is Henry Cow - Western Culture

'The Wall' is building up a win in this poll! It might not have been such an unforeseeable outcome. LOL

Yes, all of the other albums in the poll have The Wall to climb now to come anywhere near Pink Floyd's clear lead. Smile

In Through the Out Door, Downwind, Monolith, Danger Money, and Spectral Mornings are all worthy competitors, but from the choices offered, I will go with Supertramp's Breakfast in America. From first hearing the singles off that album on AM radio, the band and album have been very important to me, even though I'm now convinced their best album is 1975's Crisis? What Crisis?.

And since this is just a RANDOM album clash that cannot encompass everything released, I would like to say my very favorite album from 1979 is Anthony Phillips's Sides.
