This has been done before many times...but since the boards changed I'll start a new one.
1. Yes - Close to The Edge
2. Dream Theater - Images and Words
3. Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here
4. Porcupine Tree - Deadwing
5. Pain of Salvation - The Perfect Element
6. Pain of Salvation - Remedy Lane
7. Unexpect - In A Flesh Aquarium
8. Porcupine Tree - Lightbulb Sun
9. Death - Symbolic
10. Opeth - Blackwater Park
Besides the Top 6, this list can change very, very often. A top 50 is really the only way to show my taste. Way to lazy though.

The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway - Genesis (normally, I wouldn't put this one at the top because I thought it was too ambitious, but I'm kinda wearing Selling England by the Pound out so I think right now I favor this one...but I'm wearing this one out as well. =/) The Yes Album - Yes Selling England by the Pound - Genesis Nursery Cryme - Genesis Trespass - Genesis (I got this one in the mail today on vinyl, and it's great!) Relayer - Yes The Wall - Pink Floyd Wish You Were Here - Pink Floyd A Song for All Seasons - Renaissance One - Neal Morse
I need to broaden my selection a little. =/

^Wow, or something. I didn't expect to see an MCR fan here! It's a brave move to include an MCR album in a list like this on this website. I quite like the song Dead! from that album by the way. Not much more though...
-
I currently feel like listing these:
Calvary - Outnumbered is Outflanked Helmet - Meantime Popsicle - Popsicle The Chameleons - Script of the Bridge Tool - Ænima Ordination of Aaron - Completed Works Kayo Dot - Choirs of the Eye My Bloody Valentine - Ecstasy and Wine Dinosaur Jr. - Bug Three - Dark Days Coming
This list will change any minute. The Three in the list is not the New Prog band, but an old Post-Hardcore band who released a very good album in 1987.

Even though they're one of my favorite bands, I don't even think MCR is really that great. A ton of people hate them and I can see why. However, I really think The Black Parade was a great emulation of everything I liked about rock in the 70s.... over the top, bombastic, artsy.... and having loved that era so much (note Queen II, A Night at the Opera, and The Wall all in my top 10) I don't care if it's an emulation (if your gonna emulate something, emulate the best I guess) and despite being only competent musicians, they are excellent writers. I was literally shocked when I heard that album, I didn't think that MCR could put out something like Black Parade, it never lets up and I really think it's a classic album.

hahhaha..no.... just learned there is more to PM...than..... they who hath no name.
seriously though.... I love that album.. from the first listen... and
is the only non-RPI album that sits presently in the CD
changer. Far and away the best PM album I've heard.. though I
have so much still to hear. I listened to Agalloch's 'The Mantle'
last night... and that album 'grabbed' me. Putting that on
again.. as a matter of fact.

This is tough, but I think this is how it would go at the moment:
1. VdGG-Pawn Hearts 2. KC-In the Court of the Crimson King 3. Ayreon-The Human Equation 4. DT-Scenes From a Memory 5. Yes-Close to the Edge (hard choice between that and relayer) 6. ELP-Tarkus 7. Rush-Hemispheres 8. Unexpect- In a Flesh Aquarium 9. Godspeed You! Black Emperor- F # A# Infinity (again, hard choice with Yanqui U.X.O.) 10. Novalis-Novalis
I tried to keep it to one per band and i'm sure it'll chance soon anyway.

This is a really difficult one to complete because as soon as I read the list back I add titles. As I'm new to this forum it might set the scene for you existing members to get an idea of my tastes. SO here goes and in no particular order:

2) Apostrophe - Frank Zappa
3) Feats Don't Fail Me Now - Little Feat
4) The Pretender - Jackson Browne
5) 4 Way Street - Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young

7) Wishbone Ash - Wishbone Ash
8) Night Moves - Bob Seger
9) Homecoming - America
10) Let It Bleed - The Stones
At work on a Friday when casual dress code is allowed I'm currently wearing a 'T' shirt that has "I listen to bands you've never even heard of" - all of my colleagues agree too!

1. Van Der Graaf Generator - Still Life 2. The Mars Volta - Frances the Mute 3. Van Der Graaf Generator - Pawn Hearts 4. Van Der Graaf Generator - Godbluff 5. Tool - Lateralus 6. Pink Floyd - Animals 7. Flower Kings - Unfold the Future 8. Gentle Giant - Free Hand 9. King Crimson - Red 10. The Mars Volta - A Bedlam in Goliath
You may get the distinct impression that i like VDGG. Well i don't. I hate them. The singer is terrible and the band can't even play their instruments. Of course, if you are intelligent you will pick upon the sarcastic tone in my voice. But it stops >>>here<<<. They are the greatest band in the world, followed by The Mars Volta. period.
