I was just wondering this. If there is any psychedelic jazz out there, I'd like to hear it, (provided its good).
Can anyone name a psychedelic jazz artist off the top of their head?

Speak of the devil ... psychedelic jazz is probably my favorite style, go through my reviews and you will find lots. The best is probably early to mid 70s Miles and Hancock's Sextet. Also early Passport, any fusion album with Larry Young as guest or some things that aren't on PA like select albums by Donald Byrd, Ramsey Lewis and Herbie Mann. |

what comes to mind for this is the first two Colosseum albums "Those Who Are About To Die Salute You" and "Valentyne Suite" And all of Passport's many albums are musical blessings! |

interesting because the term 'psychedelic jazz' doesn't seem to have the defined boarders other subgenres tend to, and seems to include everyone from Pierre Henry to Don Sebesky, or this guy.. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dave_Pike_Set - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dave_Pike_Set and Acid Jazz appears to be a different animal altogether |

I agree with a lot of what has been put here. I feel like early Magma and Soft Machine around Third and Fourth both apply, but as VERY psychedelic jazz.
