DEADLY ORGONE RADIATION

Together these three guys are somewhat of the Ango world's answer to the Japanese Ruins as this mere trio can make more noise than you thought possible. DESECRATION OF FORM is the second offering by this band of noise makers following 2015's "Power Trips." This album of only four tracks offers the classic album running time of just over 38 minutes but in its wake it will leave your ears, mind and soul pulverized because this one offers nothing but a pure adrenaline inducing nonstop pummeling of the senses without falling into the category of extreme metal.

This is the kind of crazy maelstrom of sound that the term brutal prog was invented because nothing else really conveys just how bombastic and unconventional this, um music, really is! Weasel Walter handles drums on this and it is completely vocal-free so what you're treated to (if you even dare tread in noisy prog rock territory) is an incessant series of varying drumming patterns, freaky guitar antics with lots of stop / start action and grating tones and timbres that are designed to alienate all but those who have acquired a taste for this tripped out mix of speed, atonality, time signature excess and angular disregard for anything melodic.

Half European free jazz of the Peter Brötzmann ilk and half noise rock of the no wave variety, DEADLY ORGONE RADIATION takes the world of free improvisation into satisfying arenas with anti-melodies of some sort whizzing around like a swarm of angry hornets but there are moments of "down-time" where the speed ceases and tapestry of sound reveals a hidden underpinning. This isn't noise for its own sake but rather some sort of crazy inverted series of patterns that come off as cacophony but are actually constructed to a certain degree.

Like no wave itself, this sort of brutal prog relies more on rhythmic clusters as a form of organization whereas notes are rather random like an electric wire falling into a body of water flailing about. Obviously this is about as harsh and atonal as anything called prog rock can get as it takes the angularity of avant-prog and takes it all to its logical conclusion and once married with freeform avant-jazz and noise rock makes this virtually unlistenable for many. A great way to clear any room of unwanted guests if the need ever arises! While it's impossible to convey why some of these brutal freeform albums work for me and others don't, i can only say that this one does mostly due to the clever playing styles of the musicians and the fact that it's unrelenting and unapologetic in its approach.
