Klaxon Gueule biography
Klaxon Gueule is an actuelle musique band from Québec founded in September 1995 by Bernard Falaise (Miriodor, Les Projectionnistes), Michel F. Côté (Bruire) and Alexandre St-Onge, all musicians of renown.
Bernard Falaise is a guitarist that was involved in many avant-gardiste projects and bands, notably Miriodor and Les Projectionnistes (as stated above) but also Papa Boa, The Unexpected, Mecha Fixes Clock and Foodsoon. He also produced albums for Québécois artists and released two solo albums.

Michel F. Côté is a reputed drummer / percussionist who played with lots of great musicians and bands such as Bob, Mecha Fixes Clock, (juste) Claudette, Pink Saliva and Bruire. He co-founded the label &records, participated in the development of the avant-garde scene in Québec and works in scenic arts (theatre, mostly). He also released many solo albums

Alexandre St-Onge is a bassist and composer who studied literature and philosophy before becoming a musician. Apart from playing in Klaxon Gueule, he is a member of Shalabi Effect, Et Sans, K.A.N.T.N.A.G.A.N.O and mineminemine. He released six solo albums, too.

Since 1997, Klaxon Gueule released five albums, four of them released on the Québécois musique actuelle label, Ambiances Magnétiques and the other on &records.
On their albums, they have collaborated with many excellent musicians. To name a few, Jean Derome, Sam Shalabi and Gordon Allen.
This band should appeal to people looking for something different than most of the usual avant-progressive bands.

Klaxon Gueule RIO/Avant-Prog

Review by Sean Trane

2 stars Despite joining Mitiodor in the mid-9à's, Falaise was already busy with his own "solo" careerwith completely demented soundscapes and a general misic direction between the Musique Actuelle and the musique concète, both of which demand an open-mindedness that goes beyond the reasonable frame of mind to actually appreciate it and listen to it on a regular basis. But here, Bernard joins a formation Klaxon Gueule (a promosing name more or less meaning horn-tooting) that more or less takes a similar path, maybe a tad more conrète and actuelle, and there is little chance that he'll make many more adept of in his new musical endeavour. As a matter of fact this double (!) album is typical Ambiance Magnetique label product and is on the average no more hermetic than the Hétu, , Les Poules or other such projects that makes the bulk of the label's catalogue.

Despite having a "normal" rhythm section, the album almost never reaches a rhythm or a beat pattern, while Falaise's guitar and Cauley's sax never give us a clear melody or even try to sound harmonous. Are we in a written/composed scheme or a totally improvised canevas?? Can't honestly answer to this with certainty, and to be truthfull, I'm not sure I care for this music enough to find out. The first disc inclose to unlistenable and the second will wear your patience down before you'll have a chance to qualify as redundant or useless. Actually I'm almost certain the musicians couldn't give less of "hoot", since they didn't bother to comminicate the track list in the slim double jewel case (as opposed to a more normal all- cardboard record sleeve). Best avoided, unless being a masochist and enjoying aural torture. Don't say I didn't warn you.

Thanks to evolutionary_sleeper for the artist addition.
