INDEKSI: SVE OVE GODINE (4LP BOX SET)

This anthology is the fourth and the last official vinyl LP release of INDEXI. Throughout their 25 years career (up to this point), they recorded many excellent, inovative, progressive and experimental songs (along with obligatory popular hits) that never appeared on official releases. The first two albums, both titled simply "Indexi" from 1974 and 1977 respectively, were compilations of their singles from given periods. The only proper studio album was the masterpiece "Modra rijeka", released in 1978.

In mid 1980s INDEXI were basically ground to a halt, the latest EP being issued in 1983. So, they decided in collaboration with their discographic label Diskoton and with Radio Television Sarajevo (where many of their old tapes were recorded and kept), to release an anthology package covering their entire career. "Sve ove godine" ("All These Years") appeared on 4 LP records, packed in a boxset, including a poster and an informative booklet containing biography and photos. The cover is showing a band photo, with members (from upper left clockwise - Nenad Jurin, Slobodan Kovacevic, Djordje Kisic, Fadil Redzic and Davorin Popovic) wearing a sort of "classical" black and white robes, like they just left their places in an orchestra.

Discs 1 and 2 contain earlier material including many prog-oriented compositions, while discs 3 and 4 are more pop-oriented covering the late 1970s period. What is extremely important is that this release presents the first official issue on a vinyl of many key prog moments of their history, notably:

- "Boj na Misaru" (an early experiment with folk motives and traditional instruments, 1968)

- "Negdje na kraju u zatisju" (probably the first over 10 min. long track in ex YU, 1969)

- "Hej ti" (wonderful prog rock from 1972)

- "Dvojnik" (a lengthy blues/jazz fusion from 1970)

- the only new song was "Indexi 86", made of lyrics combined from several of their most popular song titles, a sort of farewell or "closing the chapter" feeling.

So, "Sve ove godine" represents an essential addition to prog rock collections.

Diskoton label was shut down in the 1990s, therefore this issue is no longer available in catalogues. Still, an obscure Krin Music label re-issued first 2 discs (minus 4 tracks) as "Gold 1" CD and discs 3 and 4 (minus 3 tracks plus 1 bonus track) as "Gold 2" CD in 1996.
