4 stars Splendid collection of Al's fiery best with select cuts spanning 1976 to '83. We start with the mean rocker 'Race With the Devil on the Spanish Highway' and are immediately brought back to Di Meola's 70s heyday. His virtuosity on acoustic guitar shines on 'Ritmo De La Noche' and the absolutely marvelous 'Fantasia Suite for Two Guitars' which features him in a spectacular duel with himself. Some of his commercial side is showcased with 'Cruisin' and 'Spanish Eyes', but that's made up for by 'Passion, Grace & Fire' with John McLaughlin and Paco DeLucia in one of their more interesting fire fights. A great compilation and a treat if you don't own each Di Meola album.
