Collaborators/Experts Reviews

Review by Rivertree
SPECIAL COLLABORATOR Honorary Collaborator / Band Submissions
2 stars This 12'' VOCOKESH production contains one track devided in two parts which shows them jamming - garage psych coupled with weird contributions. A very raw cut following the debut 'Ispepnaibra' and initiating the collaboration with the Drag City label by all means. This EP also marks the arrival of John Helwig (guitar, bass) joining the band for a long ride together with Richard Franecki until today.

Straightforward psych 'n punk is opening the first part with acid guitars. A wild, nearly uncontrolled start detached by mysterious vocal samples and distorted guitar snippets. The second part of Still Standing In The Garden is more accessible in a typical space rock manner - echoed guitars and some synths are bustling and meandering until they finally return back to where they started - heavy psych rock.

This is a release which at least attracts attention because the guitar work is worth a great deal. But as for a summary I would say not more than a collectors item compared to the other VOCOKESH output.
