3 stars The Lost Tapes is Jon's name for the 20 CD set he is selling at jonboxset.com. Some of the disks in that set are already listed here in Progarchives.com, some have yet to be released. I would guess that, like King Crimson and their Collectors Club, he would do better by sellem them individually. How many of us could afford, or would want a 20 CD set of outtakes and concerts of Jon?

Anyway, when he began this endeavor, Jon sent out a free sampler to anyone requesting one from his web site. Here's what you get:

Hold You In My Arms - from Watching The Flags That Fly - a vaguely political song which sounds like Jon is singing over sequenced keyboards. It's a somewhat uninteresting song until near the end when the keyboards begin a solo.

The Meaning Of Your Love - from Searching For The Songs - a typical Anderson light ballad, made annoying to me by a horrendous rhythm track.

Eireland - from The Lost Tapes Of Opio - a synthesizer symphonic piece. Nice, but not spectacular. It is much better than I would expect from Jon as a symphonic-prog piece.

And You And I - from The Mothers Day Concert - A competent performance of a song some of us may have heard at least a few times. Some crowd noise makes this sound like a better than average bootleg.

Song Of Seven - from Live In Sheffield 1980 - the highpoint of this collection. A very Yes-like tune from the album of the same name.
