3 stars 2nd Sun in the Eclipse is the debut full-length studio album by Polish technical/ progressive death metal act Ingenium. The album was released in February 2007 by Magik Art Entertainment.

The music on the album is technically well played and progressive death metal. Tempo and time signature changes, brutal growling vocals and an adventurous approach to songwriting. The musicianship is excellent, but the songs lack a bit in the songwriting department. I simply have a hard time remembering the songs when the album is over. A few memorable hooks would have helped. The production unfortunately doesn´t help either. It´s got a kind of professional demo sound quality to it.

2nd Sun in the Eclipse is a very interesting and quite promising first release by Ingenium, but the album would have prospered from a better production and more memorable songwriting. A big 3 star rating is warranted. I´ll be looking out for future releases by Ingenium though.
