Review by Conor Fynes
PROG REVIEWER
3 stars '2 Originals Of Led Zeppelin' - Led Zeppelin (Compilation)

Despite having a somewhat puzzling title, '2 Originals Of Led Zeppelin' is merely a boxed product of the band's two first albums, 'Led Zeppelin,' and 'Led Zeppelin II.' Despite this compilation having little value beyond collector's charm, the two albums it seeks to promote are both considered to be classics. Both of these are memorable albums, although at this point in the band's career, they had not yet explored themselves to their artistic potential. That would occur in the four albums to follow these two, but this is a fairly strong slice of what can be nicely referred to as classic hard rock. 'Led Zeppelin I' takes a very American-sounding approach to rock music, rivaled only by Deep Purple at the time in terms of hard rocking. 'Led Zeppelin II' is a tad less impressive, developing the band's bluesy tendencies and delivering some very hard-hitting music all the same. Two of my lesser liked Zeppelin albums, but both essential listening for rock music nonetheless.
