4 stars The first of a lot to come!

It is always a pleasure when some people's efforts are consumed, one of them was the creation of Prog Sphere. It was at first essentially a progressive rock website when people could read album reviews and different articles (one can still reading that), but now it is more than that, it has become in a strong band supporter with the creation of the series of "Progstravaganza Compilation of Awesomeness" albums, and better, with the rise of Prog Sphere Records. So surely we will have news from them for a long time.

The first compilation was released one year ago (2010) when the site was just spreading its wings. It comprises ten songs from different bands around the world, bands that have all the merits to become icons of progressive rock in its different subgenres, acts that maybe need more exposure because their quality is undeniable. Though I am not really fan of compilation albums, I like the initiative of Prog Sphere because with these progstravaganza albums I have become more familiar and interested with some bands I previously ignored.

What we will find here is an interesting blend of genres with promising bands from the whole world. In one hand we can listen to the folkish sound of Flor de Loto, or to the space prog of Lunar Dunes, while in the other we are offered the eclectic sound of Birds and Buildings, Gösta Berlings Saga and Fromuz, to name a few. Though I previously knew most of these bands, I can say I am also happy to discover new ones such as Klotet or Uneven.

The songs here are actually representative of the bands listed, once you listen to them you can decide if you are either interested or no in their music, but I assure you will find here something to explore and to be happy about. So far, this first progstravaganza remains as my favorite (have to admit that I have not listened to all of them), and I would recommend you to download it without a doubt. My final grade will be four stars.

Enjoy it!
