Following the full-length album Garden Of The Moon, Lana Lane released an EP called Echoes From The Garden. This pattern was followed again after the next full-length album Queen Of The Ocean, which was followed by a similar EP; entitled, of course, Echoes From The Ocean. Both of these EP's are dominated by remixes and alternative versions of previously released material, but they also feature a few previously unreleased tracks. Or, I should say, previously unreleased at that point in time. In the case of Echoes From The Ocean, there was one previuosly unreleased track, called Rhapsody. This track has, however, later been included as a bonus track on (some versions of) the Secrets Of Astrology album. Rhapsody is a catchy, melodic hard rocker, with rather simplistic lyrics. The song is clearly below the high standards of excellent full-length albums like Queen Of The Ocean, Garden Of The Moon, and Secrets Of Astrology, but is worthwhile for serious fans like myself. The long version of Frankenstein Unbound is also interesting to hear. Indeed, it is all very good, but after the previously unreleased tracks have been made available elsewhere, clearly only collectors will want to invest in these rare "echoes" EPs. In short, these EPs are nice collectors items.
