4 stars LEMONADE INFLUENCE are a trio out of Greece and they've just released this one studio album so far. It was released in 2013 and we get a real PINK FLOYD vibe combined with the sound of fellow countrymen WILL-O-THE-WISP. Dreamy, spacey with floating organ and distorted guitars for the most part. A trio of keyboards/vocals, guitar and percussion. For this recording they brought in a drummer and bass player along with the wonderful female singer with that bluesy voice bringing to mind Torry Claire at times. The guitarist wrote, arranged and composed all the music.

I want to focus on the four tracks that I find outstanding on here. That does not include the first two opening tracks even though they are still quite good. "Relapse" is the first track to include the female singer doing vocal melodies and this is the longest song at almost 9 minutes. This is a ride. Love that guitar a minute in and I must say he plays in different styles on here and is quite an accomplished player. The drummer as well really impressed me throughout this album then add the percussionist it's pretty cool what they came up with. "The Box" is relaxed like most of the songs with guitar, organ, bass and drums. Male vocals are also very laid back on here. A dreamy and beautiful piece. Female vocals take over and she can bring it. Soaring guitar on this one too bringing FLOYD to mind.

"Sunrise" is another awesome piece that actually starts out haunting before kicking in after a minute. Tribal drum work and acid guitar leads. A few calms on this one. Guitar is inventive late as it gets experimental. "Whale Song" is the closer and I like how we have this relaxed guitar with strummed guitar behind it in the opening. It does kick into a higher gear but it's brief around 4 1/2 minutes. "My Forgotten Dreams" keeps me from rating this higher I just find it too wimpy with the male vocals, kind of ballad-like I suppose. And look it's almost 9 minutes long and there's lots to like on this one but it's the one track that had me scratching my head a little bit.

A really enjoyable album that sets a mood for sure. This is what I love about WILL-O-THE-WISP just how beautiful and dreamy they can be just like the country that these two bands live in.

5 stars After much searching, something contemporary, that has an old sound, space, long chords of keyboards, distorted guitars, good melodies, yes! I was fortunate to find this good Greek group. I was surprised by their elaborate songs that immediately transported me to the decade of the 70's. The song ... (read more)
