4 stars DAY OF DEPARTURE makes in the ambient post rock sound with heavy declination; those who were scratching in progressive metal before are embarking on this complex and underground niche.

'...And We Prepare for Our End' heavy, heavy atmosphere and a female voice to add a bit of mystery. 'The Edge of Annihilation' more crystalline, ethereal, slow reverberating composition until Michelle who opens the ball, with her voice which will rise, limit screamed in a freaking crescendo. 'The Light in Our Eye Grows Dim' arrives, its afterlife space cutscene, throwing interlude 'Pierce the Sky (Conflict)' with percussive tribal rhythm, litany voice; a heavy riff comes to be grafted onto it and we start on the oriental of the futuristic 3rd millennium; break reminding me of My Dying Of Bride and the post hangs on too. 'Ex Machina' electric guitar arpeggio, on a calm sound like on The cranberries, The Corrs; it goes up on The Gathering with the warm guitar reminiscent of Rutten's. 'Life Prevails' always crystalline intros where the acute guitar notes come to rest from the bass hubbub; still on The Gathering of the beginnings for a plaintive and monolithic title. 'The Future Has No Form' another dark, mischievous, spatial interlude; reverberations from beyond the atmosphere, to adjust the speakers, I like it. 'Living Matter' softer and heavier, on fresh Anneke, haunting at the start, the swaying, humming, airy, symphonic break in an ice cave, lets the post slip out with full nose; on Mono, Explorers In The Sky, divine; it starts like the best years of the Gathering with an intoxicating riff. 'Awaken to the Beyond' with the meeting of post and cold wave; a variation with percussion and sharp guitars to establish a cold and austere climate. 'The Beyond' continues with a last galactic interlude, too short because as much as we can find a certain redundancy in the sung titles, these interludes are just perfect, dreamlike and contemplative.

DAY OF DEPARTURE is gothic, melancholic atmosphere, reminding me a lot of THE GATHERING and other LACUNA COIL from the beginning. A group that asks for another album to see their musical desire.
