Psi Vojaci biography
Psi vojaci (Dog Soldiers) is group considered as one of foremost examples of movement of Czech Avant music (starting in late 70s), Underground. Main leader is vocalist, pianist, composer and lyrics guy Filip Topol. He established group in 1979 (when there were only 13 years old) with drummer David Skála & bass guitarist Jan Hazuka. Named after Cheyene war raid party (from book Little Big Man), their music is influenced a lot by world Underground & also classical composers from late 18th century, as well as some Punk influences.

They were banned soon after they started doing gigs. F.Topol is also known for making film & theatre music. Changing lineup's quite often, they're active till today (2010) and are quite prolific group, releasing more than dozen of studio albums. Albums are often concept themed (with story), so it's good to know meaning of them, or even understand Czech language, but not necessary, as music alone is enough to feel the power of this piano based (but powerful nevertheless) music.

— First review of this album —
3 stars Where is it written that avant-garde music should have grating, irritating vocals? It seems like far too many times I find myself enjoying the instrumental portion of a song, but the vocalist makes it difficult to listen to. That is the case with this album. While the music is rough, it is still quite compelling. However, Filip Topol tends to shout most of the lyrics (which I don't understand, not knowing the language). And when he shouts, he is often off-key.

Musically, this album is piano driven avant-garde, with some shades of punk. The guitaring is sparse, but when it is there it is mostly aggressive, bringing to my mind Klaus Flouride of the Dead Kennedys at times. For some reason, when the violins come in, it reminds me of Henry Cow. It all makes for an interesting album. Until Topol sings (similarly to the grating sound of Lee Jackson of The Nice), or should I say, shouts.

Thanks to clarke2001 for the artist addition.
