Stealing Axion biography
Pacific Northwest's Stealing Axion was formed in the winter of 2009 by guitarists Dan FORBRITCH, Josh DESHAZO and Phil WILLMARTH. The three friends would get together to hang out and write riffs which evolved into songs. By early 2010 they self-recorded and released their EP and continued their steady regiment of writing and developing their sound.

The band was then contacted by Acle KAHNEY (TESSERACT guitarist and producer) about mixing and mastering songs for their debut album. Working closely with him on the sounds and textures of the album, "Moments" developed into a dynamic and immense listening experience. The album combines the ferocity and rawness of modern metal with delicate and expansive atmospheres. The result is a sound that is accessible while maintaining a detailed and complex framework.

The band's lyrical style of each song is focused on a single story or concept while lending to a much larger picture and message. This leaves room for interpretation by the listener, helping each person to have their own unique experience.

3 stars Rhythmic mind-blowing album.

What a good surprise ! As my rating says, this album deserve a place in your collection. Here you'll get a mix between different genre of metal-prog music : it goes from some kind of space- rock sound to death metal passing by jazzy parts and more trash metal parts. But the real argument of this album is its time signatures and rhythmic sections that keeps your head banging.

Nothing to say about the production, everything is well recorded and mixed. Musicianship looks fine.

I must admit I can't give it 4 stars because it lacks melodic parts at the middle of the album I found myself thinking that the musics are a bit repetitive... So the 4 stars songs are in my opinion : Mirage Of Hope (if only every music of the album had its strength) ; Moments part 1 and 2, the others are good but not excellent.

I'll be waiting for their second album wishing for more melodic parts.

Final word : 3.5/5 hoping for improvement in the next album.

Thanks to Rune2000 for the artist addition.
