Adeia biography
This Netherlands band was formed by classical violinist Laura Ten VOORDE. Laura was also interested in heavy metal music. The band wanted to create challenging progressive metal with lyrical symphonic music of the romantic era. Then came Ruben Van KRUISTUM who as a cellist was also interested in heavier music. This project was taken and refined by Franc TIMMERMAN on vocals, Wabe WIERENGA on guitars, Chrisitan BRUIN on drums, Laurens HOPPE on synths and Dennis BURGEMEESTER on bass guitar.

The band made their debut album ''Hourglass'' in 2011. The sound created is comprised of classical melodies, progressive rock elements and a dosage of technical heavy metal infused with melodic vocals, grunts and growls. You can think of something in the vein of OPETH and LIVA. The album was released independently in May 2012, but they signed with Layered Reality Productions in 2013.

4 stars What an interesting first album by this Dutch septet!

It's easy to spot their Opeth influence, of course, that's very clear in their music, but Adeia goes beyond it and add a whole band of its own music! The addition of cello and violin as fixed instruments is also very important for their sound.

Vocalist Franc Timmerman does a very good job mixing gutural and clean vocals, always backed by Laura ten Voorde backing vocals (she also plays violin). In fact Laura is a key person in the band, she's the one writting a good chunk of their music and lyrics.

A VERY good debut album!

Thanks to aapatsos for the artist addition.
