Grumbling Fur biography
Daniel O'SULLIVAN and Alexander TUCKER are GRUMBLING FUR. Musicians are long time friends and known figures in British experimental music; TUCKER is a cover artist and musician since the early 90's with bands like SUCTION and FUXA until the year 2003 when he started releasing his own folk inspired albums. O'SULLIVAN is a multi-instrumentalist from Manchester who plays in a wide range of musical styles, and after GUAPO he has been a live member of SUNN O))) and is currently member of ULVER.

In 2011 the project GRUMBLING FUR started out from a one-day recording session along with Jusi LEHTISALO (CIRCLE, PHARAOH OVERLORD) and Dave SMITH (GUAPO). This psychedelic session was turned into their debut album 'Furrier' and since then O'SULLIVAN and TUCKER have been working as a duo with guest musicians on subsequent albums that are influenced by electronic and pop music as much as rock.

Grumbling Fur Krautrock

Great inorganic movements rolling and undulating with mysteriously pleasant sensation. GRUMBLING FUR's debut album "Furrier", with a dark sleeve of someone's back view like a Japanese Ghost, would exactly take over the dark side of conventional Krautrock I guess. As if they looked through our inner depressive appearance ... they make an assault on our ears directly and stuff a bunch of tough sounds without any mercy. A dark psychedelic rock freak should get immersed in their black magic.

Their sound generation can be felt simple but systematic. Mainly electronic vibes drenched in discordant melody lines and depressive / winding percussion are mystically addictive for us. every unexpected alteration or dissected ambiance are too ambivalent for us to understand quickly and smoothly. The latter half upon the A Side of this album (lp) is pretty interesting, based upon cool, a tad danceable (of course each phrase is too unsteady and distorted to dance well lol) percussion sounds. On the contrary, another suite innovation hailing from "Bears Wandering Into Milky Chapel" (The B Side of this lp) would be called as the masterpiece(s) of this album, where such a horror is discussed along complicated but comprehensive footprints expressed with electronic roars and deep, lazy drumming. A battle of fear, let me shout.

No astonishing sound revolution can be heard but we can obviously find some dark, muddled innovation in this stuff. Black Magic Fur.

Another indietronic band hearkening back to krautrock and the Berlin School, Grumbling Fur have here a very good set of tracks. Their style is firmly rooted in modern indietronic mores, but they pull various tricks and ideas, mainly and especially complexity, from the early German pioneers. The result is The Postal Service meets Klaus Schulze. We are left with a few tracks of ambient leaning electronica done in a rather proggy and indiecentric fashion, and it sounds great. For instance "Secrets of The Earth" is your usual indietronic track, but now with the spirit of Tangerine Dream on the mind. This is more an indietronic fan's dream, but prog electronic fans could find something to really love here too.
