Does it sound like Neo-Prog? Melodic Progrock or even Alternative Rock? Is it kind of progressive-pop, like the band claims it for themselves in their early beginnings? If you want to spot it and perhaps peg the band into some of these genres, you may find some. Even if this was not targeted when founding the band in 2001 by two former members of the well known German band Chandelier and vocalist Julia Graff. They wanted to create kind of progressive-pop sound with a female vocalist whose sound was a bit of uncommon for this kind of music. Their first CD Insight was well received both in Germany and in Europe and a special recommendation for so called “softproggers”.
After some upheaval, their second longplayer Transfiction is finally available. Armin Riemer(piano/keys/synth/organ), Carsten Hütter (guitars), Roger Weitz (bass), Herry Rubarth (drums) and Jule Graff (vocals/guitar) embeded their experiences of the last years into this album, which is catching perfectly these metarmophoses. Thereby the band remained faithful to one thing: The song and the atmosphere rank first. And if you wanna pigeon-hole the band, simply concentrate on the retro-sounds.

And the bandcamp link for their first album "Insight" :

I listen their last album "Transfiction" too and I think the Neo Prog genre is fit for them.

Really excellent band, already on Proggnosis: http://proggnosis.com/ARTIST_DETAIL.aspx?AID=8583, added to progfreak two months ago: http://progfreak.com/Elleven-164813.html, and all set for an evaluation. Tongue

Newprogreleases blogspot also has them classified as Neo Prog, and I wouldn't argue with that at all. Thumbs Up

Bump.

Neo team seems to be somewhat in a state of hibernation at the moment, though I guess it's still 'holiday season' Embarrassed

I'm probably gonna get into trouble for doing this....but this band STILL hasn't found its way into the Neo Prog team's evaluation charts on progfreak. Shocked

Five other bands and artists are just stagnating there in the 'New' chart - with no activity from any of the team members (not even a log in on the site) for around three months. Roads to Damascus still haven't been added to their evaluation chart either - and that suggestion is now nine months old. Disapprove

Raff commented in that particular thread that "we are all volunteers, and we happen to have lives outside PA - sometimes having to deal with serious issues", which is a very valid point indeed, but I do feel that when you are unable to carry out your volunteer duties for this length of time (and this applies to all three members of the team...not just one or two of them) then you should let the admins know, so that other volunteers can be recruited to get things moving again.

Let's just get this into perspective here - no additions whatsoever have been made to the Neo Prog category on PA in 2016, no team member has logged into the site they use to track their evaluations for three months, and two of the three team members have never logged into the progfreak site at all since they were recruited to the team as new members four months or so ago.

I have stopped logging in to PA on a regular basis myself (I visit the site at least half a dozen times a day though) because of frustration at not being able to contribute to the site as much as I'd like to - or even to access the collab zone to check up on the status of old evaluations that appear to have stalled (I was at one time a member of the Crossover team, but felt the need to step down after receiving criticism for being too lenient with my voting - effectively my knowledge of prog as it is perceived on PA isn't really good enough to be considered as a 'collaborator' here). I am not a key member of the site with a dedicated role to play any more though, so it doesn't matter at all that I sometimes 'disappear' for a few weeks or months, but I think it does matter when the whole of an evaluation team goes awol for several months like this, and the sub genre they are supposed to be looking after receives absolutely zero input for this length of time.

Even the 'current Neo-Prog Team members' list on the main Neo Prog page hasn't been updated for over a year. Ermm

As I said at the start, I'm probably gonna get into trouble over this, and may end up down in the dungeon with Svetonio, Komandant Shamal and dear old Walter, but I really think someone in authority needs to step in here and get things back on an even keel again.

Great shot David. I agree with you 100%. I suggested "Roads to Damascus" long time ago and I don't know why they ignored ? I talked about your Progressive Rock Music knowledge before and I don't want to repeat it again. Perhaps someone accuse me to promote you as a very close friend! I am honest David and I don't get anything for my suggestions (as guys that you talked about them and others) but I believe to PA as the best Progressive Rock music resource. IMO , PA must fix this problem about this Important and popular Sub-Genre.
Keep in touch David. Thumbs Up

Yam Yam, if you had been able to access the Collab Zone, you'd see the difficulties this team has had individually (and collectively at times) over the last few months.  Extremely frustrating and dispiriting would be words I'd use from my personal perspective.  Even now 2 members of the team are even able to access progfreak.

I am listening to Elleven as I type this, and my initial reaction is that they seem right for Neo.  However I wish to listen to as much of their material as I can and will then vote.

I only wish I COULD access the Collab Zone Roj - I'd be able to do so much more in the way of keeping folks up to date with what's going on with the various ongoing suggestions/evaluations in this part of the forum...but I'm not a 'collaborator' (despite a brief 6-month spell as a member of the Crossover team a few years ago), and I don't write reviews - so I'm effectively done for as far as that aspiration goes.

But anyway...Problems with progfreak can easily be fixed by writing a message to Mike explaining what isn't working for you (at least that's what always happened in my own previous experience with the site) - just use the 'Write a message to Mike' link in the right hand column of the About/Contact page there.

I sincerely hope that the dark days of the past few months will soon be behind you (and the other members of the team), and I hope you enjoy listening to Elleven.

Best wishes,

Yam Yam.

Elleven certainly have my vote, they now have two "YES" votes from the Team.  We will need a third vote to clear them and that's where the problems start LOL (yes PF problems persist for the other members).  Elleven really are an excellent band, the new album in particular really impressed me.  I like the way the vocals are a little different for a band of this genre whilst the music veers towards indie at times, a refreshing change.  They really do deserve much greater exposure, hopefully an appearance on PA will help.

Let's hope we don't have quite as long a wait for another album from them!
