Furia are a Polish post-black metal band from Katowice, active since 2003. Polish for "fury," the group began as the solo project of Massemord multi-instrumentalist Michał Kuźniak (aka Nihil; of Morowe, FDS and Cssaba), the leader of the Let the World Burn Coalition, a collective of Silesian black metal artists centered around Katowice and comprised of unorthodox, experimental bands such as Odraza, Massemord, Wędrowcy~Tułacze~Zbiegi and Morowe. Signed to Pagan Records, Furia have released five albums and six EPs across their tenure, crafting their self-described "nekrofolk" style which blends post-punk, folk, psychedelic rock and atmospheric sludge into an idiosyncratic progressive black metal.

Furia's first demo, 2004's I spokój, was entirely composed, performed and produced by Kuźniak. He recruited Massemord bandmates Przemysław Muchowski (aka Voldtekt) on guitar, bassist Kamil Staszalek (aka Sars) and drummer Grzegorz Kantor (aka Namtar; also of FDS), and together the quartet recorded and released their follow-up demo I krzyk in 2005 and their critically-acclaimed debut LP Martwa polska jesień in 2007. Artur Rumiński (of Thaw and Gruzja) joined by 2013's W melancholii EP, completely replacing Muchowski by the time of the 2014 album Nocel. Furia's most popular and well-received LP, Księżyc milczy luty, arrived in 2016, showing the ever-evolving band performing beyond the confines of black metal and featuring the influence of seminal post-rock group Swans. In 2017, Furia were commissioned by director Jan Klata to play as the wedding band in a series of performances of Stanisław Wyspiański's Wesele, and the quartet would also embark on a brief tour of Japan later that year with fellow Polish black metal group Besatt. Furia returned four years later with 2021's W śnialni LP, an oddball recording even by their standards, fusing spoken word and sound collage into a trippy, avant-garde mixture.

Furia's forward-thinking sound will enthrall fans of Odraza, Shining, Fleurety, Entropia, Oranssi Pazuzu and Mgła.

They get my yes, having seen them play with other prog bands and fitting in rather nicely (if considerably heavier than anyone else on the bill), and having heard several of their albums. 🤘🏻🖤

Awesome, thanks. Caught your review of their live set on the Morowe thread; lucky you. They were a revelation when I discovered them a few years ago. Even their work before Księżyc milczy luty bears the influence of Swans, one of my most beloved bands.
