Well, yes the first part of the 1st impression is great, but the 2nd impression is the best music (and the best playing)!

1st Impression, Part 1. It's got everything from Part 2 plus more. And more is better.

1st Impression - Part 1 has always been my favourite - but it always seems to lose out to Part 2 because of the 'Welcome Back..." vocal introduction on rock radio. Before CDs, I did my best on a cassette to join the two parts so they flowed seamlessly together - getting the volume between the two parts the same was tricky as I recall. Part 1 is instrumentally stronger with some great variation and depth within it - but the whole thing requires a continuous play, despite the Impressions having their own identity.

1st Impression Part 2. It combines the fun carnival section from part 2, and the intro is super captivating, and Carl's drums are really groovy around 4:40 in. The bit inbetween the intro and the carnival is wonderful and I just love it. Greg's singing and alternate guitar solo towards the end of it is so unique and cannot be missed. I love it so much and it's got some of the best variety of the song.

However, I like to consider it as a whole song that should be listened to sequentially. There's a video on youtube that combines it all together. All 30 glorious minutes!

I think the pole would be better if there was a 5th choice for the entire 1st Impression or just 3 choices (1 for each impression ofcourse)

Tough choice, but I'm going with Third Impression.

Don't really like that piece so much. Don't remember it enough to choose one of the 4. Perhaps 3rd impression, but don't really remember it well enough.

HI,

I like the whole piece as a Symphony, and I really have no favorites as to which part ... I can't even tell you which part of Beethoven's 9th is my favorite! Or which part of TFTO is my favorite ... I just love the whole piece, and I don't really care, or think that your left arm is prettier than your right arm, or that your left brea__ is prettier than the right one!

It's the same person, entity and totality ...

First Impression, Part 1.  Part 2 has been so overplayed on classic rock radio as to be almost unlistenable now.  Impressions 2 and 3 are also awesome, but my fav has always been 1-1.

3rd impression IMO is the best, but 1st pt 1 is close,
the rest of the song is alright, i guess?

Obviously it's either part 1 or 3.
But I'd have to go with 1. I just love it a tiny bit more.

Funny how First Impression Part 1 is so far ahead of Part 2.  Airplay will do that, lol.

I voted for 1st Impression Part 1, closely followed by 2nd Impression.  Never liked the 3rd Impression much.
