And the score is tied 1-1
Overall great recordings from RTF, but the first 2 Mahavishnu''Inner Mounting Flame'' ''Birds of Fire'' are close to the holy grail for me!
This is heaven to my ears.

I said it wasn't easy , in fact I may even wind up switching my vote when I look back at Clarke's surly attitude live opening for Focus (yeah, what a show that was!) Balle au centre!

Tough choice, but it's RTF for me. Hymn is such a great album.

That's incredibly hard. I guess I'll give the edge to McLaughlin and the gang.

"Birds Of Fire" beats anything RTF put out in my opinion, but looking at their discographies as a whole, it's really close for me.

Apples and oranges. Might as well ask me which of my sons I love more.

RTF is quality music... Mahavishnu is the Absolute which is beyond human comprehension and is beyond all attributes! But seriously, even though I like the little I've heard from Corea's crew of virtuosos, it's not like I had any trouble voting for MO. Check The Inner Mounting Flame, Birds of Fire, Apocalypse and VOOEB for reasons.

RTF is great but Mahavishnu Orchestra blew my mind away years ago and still does!I recently listened to
The lost Trident sessions

I was born in the land of Mahavishnu, not so far from Kobaia.I'm looking for the world

RTF, purely on the strength of Romantic Warrior. MO has big chops, but I'm a fan of melody.

RTF for me, Mahavishnu is great but i can not pass up the amazing lineup of Corea ,Di Meola,Clarke and White. Possibly one of the greatest groups of musicians ever.

Went with RTF only because I have to be in the right frame of mind for Mahavishnu. Both are exhilarating and exciting but RTF is easier on my aging psyche.

I like Return to Forever, but Mahavishnu Orchestra blew me away. MO is also one of the great influences on Prog bands, imo.

Both are absolutely fabulous at their best, but the first 2 Mahavishnu are probably unsurpassed in jazz rock.
