I'm thinking of skipping buying the CD and just getting the DVD, KoL
(great song, by the way), because apparently there's a music CD of the
live performance included as well that you can play in your CD player
Yes, I haven't bought either yet
![]() And yes, Gildenlow is one of the most amazing, emotional vocalists of our time. |

Oh Man I had the same feeling when I first heard me. I just f**king love about. About the BE live dvd/cd- I actually like the live cd better than the studio one because of the emotions of Gildenlow's voice during that live performance. Gildenlow has proven to us once again that he is one of the best vocalists of all time. He can hit those high notes and every single note but make it more emotional and intense live. BE dvd/cd is probably my favorite DVD/live cd at the moment and it even beats out Yessongs and Live at Budokan for me. BE is such a great masterpiece, I just absolutely love it. |

I got Pain of Salvation's "BE" Live DVD delivered through my door this
morning. It's absolutely fan-bloody-tastic! Anyone doubting PoS's
talent and originality should check it out as soon as possible. It's
definitely a must-have addition to anyone's prog-metal library (and
even comes packaged with a nice cd-version for use in your stereo
system).

Remedy Lane has the most emo lyrics of any of their releases...as it's about "personal stuff."
Entropia deals with war, father/son relationships, and the interplay....more complicated than I have bothered to find out. One Hour By The Concrete Lake is based on what is considered the most polluted place on earth...Lake Karachay in Russia. The lake was so polluted with radioactivity that it was filled with concrete blocks. The story on the album tells of how people are bound to their homes despite the fact that it may kill them. The Perfect Element Part I deals with two individuals in a life of turmoil and how they relate to one another as well as the larger picture of what makes a person become a criminal...society or genetics. Be...I can't describe the concept behind this fully in a few sentences. But to try, it's about repeated patterns throughout life, human behavior, religion, God vs man, man vs machine, machine vs God, money, selfism, evolution, ... There's nothing cliche about any of those albums. I've yet to find anything that rivals them in the 30 years I've been around. |

Blarg, PoS is overrated, they're underrated. Most people skip them just
because they have the prog metal tag on them, but they're so much more.
Be scares me. ![]() |

Good, get Be if you want the most unique and brilliant concept album ever made About POS being very overrated, whoever started this thread needs to DIE!!! Jus' Kiddin'. Sorry, but Pain Of Salvation is not even rated very highly..... Before it can be overrated, it needs to recognized and rated well and they are not rated much highly at all.

Ah, sorry about that. I did download each song on this site from PoS, but !(Forward) was the one that really offset me, it is their earliest work on the site, I understand, but I liked none of it. Sorry for sounding shallow there. |

I don't mind Pain Of Salavation. Nowhere near my top spot (Dream Theater), but they're not bad. I currently don't own any of their albums though. My mate lent me one which I really liked (can't remember which), so I will get some PoS soon. |

I listened to !(Forward) from the site, and I think they suck, I'm sorry. It was a mumbled and corny sounding song.

This song that you've taken the lyrics from "A Trace of Blood", just so
happens to be about a miscarriage, since you most likely didn't have
any clue. Then, when it comes to their time signatures, you're
completely wrong there buddy. LISTEN beneath the surface. Very
difficult arrangements. DREAM THEATER are too caught up in their
Berklee schooled musical syntax. Calling PAIN OF SALVATION a
DREAM THEATER wannabe is THE most unintelligeble remark I've yet to
hear on this very site. DREAM THEATER's latest album, "Octavarium" is a
completely bland and derivative piece of music. WAAAY TOO MUCH MUSE
influence on some songs on that album. Also, the beginning of the song
"Octavarium", is derivative of PINK FLOYD. Then, just after the
beginning of the song "Octavarium", DREAM THEATER really tried too hard
to try and recreate the opening moments of "Supper's Ready" by GENESIS.
DREAM THEATER has sounded pretty much the same since the early
nineties, while PAIN OF SALVATION continue to be unpredictable, unique,
original, and intelligent. PAIN OF SALVATION is a group with brains and
balls, unafraid to deviate from an expected product, whereas DREAM
THEATER keep failing to write their hit song for the radio. Basically,
I think you're totally wrong and substanitally mental.

I've been trying for awhile to get into PoS...but can't quite do it.....the songs always start out great...great guitar, great rythms, and I don't really have a problem with any of the lyrics......however, they always seem to break into some PAINFUL melody that doesn't do justice to Gildenlow's voice.......haven't given up on them though.....I still like I must be missing something....

im sure he prolly understands the lyrics. they are very transparent and easy to follow. i personally am not a fan of those lyrics, or any on the second disc of 6DoIT. oh well. and just cos the theme is heavy doesnt mean the lyrics are hard to grasp. |
