Akkerman and Van Leer from the list
Presumably Emerson and Lake are ruled out because Lake was mainly a bass guitarist but when Lake did play lead guitar they were an incredibly dynamic pairing. Best example is Karn Evil 9 which has at least 3 sections with lead guitar although Lake pretty much gave up any aspirations of playing lead after that. I blame his Christmas hit which tagged him as a balladier and so acoustic guitar became his second guitar of choice. Also ELP fell apart which didn't help obviously.

i really love the tight unisons and interplay betøyween Ian Crichton and Jim Gilmour , what they did as guitar-keybord was boundery breaking, and pushing, highly imitated. i also like Roye Allbrighton and Alan Freemans playing in Nektar.

I really love that style on the whole "Worlds Apart" album | If you've never heard the album right before it -- Silent Knight -- it's spectacular in that respect.

can't vote, can''t make up my mind
BTW, since you have there the UH tandem, why not a Deep Purple one? No Blackmore/Lord?

No Blackmore/Lord? | Simple answer - Uriah Heep are listed here as Heavy Prog, thus actually fully-fledged Prog, while Deep Purple is listed as Proto-Prog, thus actually non-Prog, additionally yellow-marked on PA headline. We can agree with that or not, but that's about the only thing we can do against it.

So, it's time for honorable mention of my compatriots. I believe that there are excellent but somewhat neglected Prog tandems: Radim Hladík & Lešek Semelka (Blue Effect), Luboš Andršt & Martin Kratochvíl (Jazz Q) and especially František Griglák & Marián Varga (Collegium Musicum). The last mentioned we can daringly compare to Akkerman & Van Leer. Recommended!

I have to be different here and say, despite some wonderful pairings in this list, the dynamo duo of Steve Hillage and Dave Stewart weave incredible magic throughout Khan's 'Space Shanty' album. Just perfectly complementing each other and having fun. Along with the Greenwood/Peachy heavenly rhythm section | I have to agree with this - the interplay is flawless and inventive, and sounds spontaneous, like one mind with four hands.

So many great teams here that it's actually impossible to choose a favourite one. I guess it's even more difficult than to choose just a fav guitar or keyboard player, because the team work is what might make both sound so much better. I guess I'll go with Howe/Wakeman, just because they are left a bit behing, and technically are perhaps my very favourite (though I love the sound of many others just as much, despite the fact -or maybe just because- they may not be so technically proficient). Really, I could just as easily have voted for half of the option in this poll too. By the way, it's a real shame that Petrucci/Rudess doesn't havve one single vote... they are really wonderful too, and technically speaking, perhaps even more awsome than even Howe/Wakeman. On the other hand, I guess with Jethro Tull the duo of instruments is more important between guitar and flute than with guitar and keyboards. And with Focus it might actually work as a trio guitar/keyboards/flute.
